Greetings from Hershey

Hello everyone.  I am very glad to have found a LAN organization that is located near Hershey (although I just got back from the World Series of Video Games in Grapevine, Texas, so maybe I could venture a little farther for a LAN).  I would really like to attend the 150ML in August but it would really help me decide to go if I knew that the Quake 3 tournament is definite.

Thanks,
Andrew "FunkyMo" Keeton

Just because the tournament is not definite does not mean that you can't play quake 3 with a bunch of people.    I am sure you will be able to find people who want to play.

From the schedule I see that there is 1v1 Quake 4 :D (while Q3 > Q4, Q4 will do just fine).  I just signed up for the 150ML and the Quake 4 1v1 Tournament, but I have a few questions.

I live 20 miles from the Holiday Inn, and I don't feel like paying $90 for a room, so can I sleep in the LAN or grab my keyboard, mouse, and headphones and drive home for the night then return the next day?

In the tournament regulations it says:
Quote
Players must use default models, weapons skins, heads-up display (“HUD”), point-of-view ("POV"), and sounds. Any use of
enhanced or modified models, skins, sounds, HUD, POV, and/or sounds during match play may result in a match overturn
and/or suspension of offending player(s).

Does this apply to in-game settings for Q4MAX (ie FOV, no gun models, PM skins)?

I would also like to point out two things.

The event info at http://www.fites.net/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=20 doesn't show the Quake 4 1v1 tournament as opposed to the intranet page.

For your first question...Taking a nap at your keyboard should not be a problem.  Also, once you have your wrist band you can enter and exit the event as you please, so going home would be fine.  Finally, you could always ask someone with a room if you can borrow thier floor for a few hours.

As for the quake 4 rules, I am going to say no, but wait for confirmation on that from another staff member

My opinion would be (And while i am a staffer my word probably wouldn't carry me 5 feet as far as the tourneys go) that as long as it is a game setting you can make without third party programs or add-ons then it would be ok.  I think the intention is to make it so everyone has an even shot and it doesn't come down to who has found the skins that allow better visibility.  Again that is my opinion and is subject to being overruled.  Oh and by the way welcome to our dysfunctional family.

Last year aye, some of the best times you will ever have. I remember my senior year very well, because I didn't get to walk.

Yes I know Pratek somewhat.  He was in my comp 3 class during the first semester of 11th grade.  Good luck if you got Mrs. O'Brien for English 10 (I had her for 1.5 school years unfortunately).

Ha. I must be the only one who didn't like their senior year. 11th grade was better. 12th grade pissed me off because my guidance counselor assigned me special ed. teacher help. I asked to leave early like every other senior in my class, and they wouldn't let me. When I asked why they gave me detention for being "uncooperative". Actually scratch all that about 11th grade. Grades 6-12 sucked major decayed zombie ass.   :angryfire:
