Hardcore?? Yeah right.  Not that I have every used the Payperview or Lodgenet system in hotels, but if that stuff (from what I have heard) is not hardcore...how is Comcast delivering hard core over cable.  I mean, it mite be soft core at best.  (thanks shadow or was it shado, for giving me the heads up on those soft core sources)

The media always exaggerates for the sake of making the people who made a mistake look like they're EVIL and perverted...  maybe it was on purpose...  maybe it was a hacker...  if i take a look at the network diagram of a cable ISP network, there's multiple points of intrusion, and who knows...  this could bleed over into the ondemand as all the computers run on the same network.

zomg i have cisco cable ISP equipment just sitting around!  and cisco cable modems!  i can talk directly to the mothership with this stuff...  anybody wanna have some fun?

Ummm, no. They are not on the same network. The back office network and the engineering network are completely separate. For one to talk to the other, your traffic has to be explicitly allowed to bridge the routers in the headend from one network to the other, not to mention traversing a NAT just to get to the VOD equipment.

i have a diagram of a cisco cable network that came with the ubr900's.  on here the network on the inside has multiple servers that drive fuctionality, as well as throughput to the internet from the CMTS on the ubr7246.  i'm not saying COMCAST does this...  i'm saying i have a diagram.

So you're saying you could make your own cable modem based ISP??? But the real question is.....will it blend?
