G-Speak Spatial Operating Environment

Remember 'Minority Report'?  Remember how the 'Cruise' interacted with the big computer in the movie? Well, it's kind of a reality.

Our fascination with multitouch is fairly well known, but it expands even further to cover all sorts of man machine interaction. Embedded above is a tech demo of g-speak, a spatial operating environment. The user combines gestures and spatial location to interact with on screen objects. If it seems familiar, it’s because one of the company’s founders advised on Minority Report. We doubt all this hand waving is going to catch on very quickly though. Our bet is on someone developing a multitouch Cintiq style device for people to use as a secondary monitor. It would bridge the gap between between our standard 2D interactions and gestures without making a full leap to 3D metaphors.

That is awesome.  I wonder if it is hollywood pushing the limits of technology or technology following in the footsteps of hollywood to make what is dreamed by the writers a reality??
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

Actually the movie Johnny Mnemonic had this very very similar thing in the movie before Minority Report was even made. Pretty interesting considering the movie came out in 1995. There is an SNES video game based upon it as well which I found weird (actually the movie was based upon the game I guess because the game came out before 1995 when the movie came around). I started playing it before I even knew the movie was around, then one day it was on and I was blown away. Its not under the same name but very similar concept
