Hey ive been ponderin a cool idea and i was wondering if it would be possible with the hardware involved.

Here is the hardware involved:
PAC Racerboy SK-1 Shift Knob - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-1kqSVTGlylj/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?i=127SK1Y&cc=01&g=229650&Select.x=34&Select.y=9
(might have to copy and paste)

Axim X5 PDA - http://www.mobiletechreview.com/dell_axim_x5.htm
(again copy and paste)

Panasonic MXE CQ-C7401U - http://www.crutchfield.com/S-L5OyEbSl7tF/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=133C7401&search=Panasonic+VENDORID133&SearchDisplay=Panasonic

The setup in my car is as follows, the panasonic headunit has an auxillary input in the back that is wired from the head unit to the driver side seat, which allows my PDA to be wired to it, using the PDA as my mp3 player.  What i was wondering is if i could use the irDA from the shift knob to connect not only to my remote for the stereo but also the irDA on my PDA so i could change a track on it from the shift knob.  Any input is helpful and any ideas as to how this could be done would be appreciated, i know im just a gadget and mod geek so im not quite sure as how to program irDA, but if this is possible it would be awesome!!!

Thanks,
          Mike

google? from my quick search it doesn't seem there is a known way to control the axim from IR, but it could work.

just buy an ipod, it'll hold more music and be less of a headache ;)

one of the only stereo systems i know of that u can tell it which artist, song,or genre u want it to play and it talks back to ya.  Who wants to have the same system that every1 else does neway? Thanks for the input and help tho, if i make some decent headway on this project ill let u know and u can see the work in progress.

I really like my Alpine, but they don't make it anymore. LOL It has AUX ins. I use it with my iPOD and XM Radio!
