To the guy who I sat beside at the York Fites lan:

WHERE ARE YOU?

Anyways, I remember you said you built a computer case out of lego's.
As a project for my computer class at York college, me and my group have decided to build a case out of lego's, too.

If you ever frequent these forums and would like to explain or give details to how or what you did, it would be appreciated.

If anyone else who knows him or how to contact him (if he's never around here), he is the guy who also has the truck case.  I forget his name, but he lives in quakertown and went to penn state (I remember that much).

Thanks :)

I found one site that has a how to on how 1 guy built a lego PC.  I don't think there is one way to do it or 1 easy way to do it.  I think you just need to get the legos and start building and seeing how you can do it.  Here is the link btw.

Thanks guys.  I know there is more then one way possible, and i'm hoping to use that to make the case as unique as possible.  I wasn't sure if he had any pointers as to make it was simple as possible, any trouble's he came across or any way to stray from trouble.

We already have the lego's, and we are going to start working on it soon.  I will definitly post pictures at the end (if we finish it).

I'll give him a PM. Thanks :)

here is some advise,

1. Buy more Legos

2. Watch your cooling. Remember you are designing the complete ventilation system.

3. Connector wires are your friend. Y-Splitters etc.

4.  Electric Tape (thats for you Dave)

5.  Place a rigid board under the case.

6.  Include one milion lights in the case (j/k)

7. If you have old bricks, use a method to glue them together.

8. BUY MORE LEGOS!!

This project will be costly if you want to make the case look good.  Using old bicks will give a look that the case was haphazrdly thrown together.  Even bricks of the same color will have different shades from their age and use.  Don't be afraid to take time experimenting a build.  I had torn parts of thecase down and rebuilt several times.

If you have any further questions, shoot.  Good Luck!

I just found this that might help! http://ldd.lego.com

EDIT: I forgot to add. After you design what you want there. You can actually send the plan to Lego and they will ship you the blocks you need and it will make building intructions!!

THATS AMAZING!  Should have seen it sooner.
But. . .We got it working anyways.

I'm so proud of me and my 2 partners.  We told our prof. what we wanted to do, and he looked at us like "what..the..hell?"  No one had every tried it and he didn't know what to expect.

We decided to make it EVEN more difficult than just a "p.c. in a lego case."  We decided to put an X-Box AND Computer in the case.  We did it!

WOOT!

We ran out of lego's at the end - Go figure.  We used about 2600 Lego's.  We didn't have enough lego's to make a roof over it...brilliant idea.  "We didn't make a roof so you can see what we did!"

I'll post pictures of it soon, it looks ugly because of the color differences in the lego's.  Dumb partner got rainbow colors!   :headscratch:  Heh..  Our immature-selves had to put a penis on the side of the case. LOL.  We also made our college logo on the left side.  It looks awesome.

www.ycp.edu

Its the white/green "Y".

The computer runs and the we played halo on the X-Box, I'm so impressed.  If we don't get an A+++ then everyone else should get F---!

Most other groups just tried to get "linux running on a computer, and play unreal tournament."  Soooo hard!

I'll post pictures soon!
