Hey guys I have a question for you. I was in a car accident Tuesday March 28th, I was at a 4 way intersection, well coming up to it, I didnt have a stop sign. The guy to my right did he was sitting there stopped. As soon as I was almost about to cross the section he pulled out in front of me :cussing: :cussing:, so the cop came and said it was his fault and stuff. Does anyone know how long it takes to get the insurance money or how long to fix it? If some of you remember back its my brand new 1991 Z28 Camaro, I didnt even have it 10 days, I was PISSED, but yeah any feedback please, so far I called my insurance, and his, and took a statement from his, now they said there gonan check and make sure it wasnt my fault, and call me back sometime early next week, thanks :feedback:

its completely up to your insurance... I have state farm... but have never had to file a claim like that.
-
yea i have progressive and i got my car fixed in like 3 days after the accident. I didnt pay anything my insurance called the place and paid for it right away.
-
thanks pride and dwg, I have erie, but that guy at fault has state farm and the car is ok, it runs fine, its just the front passenger side is all caved in
-
My advice if you want it done quick and with the least hassle, go to your insurance company they'll get the ball rolling, if the other guys insurance co. trys to low ball you or total the car when it's not damaged badly (older cameros are cheap so it may happen regardless) you insurance company will cut you a check (less your deductable) and sue the other company if they dont pay up, you'll get your deductable back as soon as you insurance company gets paid.
Also you insurance wont go up if it was his fault, thats a myth that going through your insurance co will screw you. Also use the NADA guide's value if you need to get the value, my friends dad is an adjuster and says they only break out the KBB value if they are really trying to get out of paying full price.
edit : grammer police

Trust me my friend it takes a long time, my friend got his car totalled to. He had a beretta (aka Z-26) some chick ran a stop sign and hit him doing 15MPH. The door was dented and he couldn't get in, they just finally took his car and it has been like 4 weeks since the accident. He got 2900 bucks from the insurance company for the car. Now he drives a cougar, sorry bout the camaro, nice ride. Just can't wait for my BMW.

Your insurance company should play the intermediary tho. My brother Matt (Enterion) is an agent with State Farm so you can always shoot him a PM, email, IM, etc with questions.
-
hey thanks cuzz shoot me a pm with his email and IM id like to ask him questions if i could
-
statefarm cut me a check for my accident in like 5 days. sounds like you have done everything right so far. is your z28 driveable? and if it is how bad is the damage.
-
hey von, kind of, but i drive an old beater car for now, the body is just caved in, it still runs fine, the right turn singal doesnt work I hit him on the right side of my car, and my front right fender grinds against my tire but it drives, but i just keep it parked for now until its fixed.
-
... I hit him on the right side of my car...
You mean he hit you right? :snicker:
-
no... he pulled out in front of me and I hit his drivers side door... he had a stop sign.. I didnt
-
I was kidding....state of mind, not your fault, maintaining your innocence, etc. It's all about keeping up appearances, ya know.
-
lol yeah, sorry
-
was it documented in the police report that he had a stop sign?
-
Once the insurance adjuster comes out and takes a look at the car you should be able to bring it to a shop and get it fixed and the insurance will pay directly to the shop most times. You shouldn't be sitting on the car waiting for the insurance to get ready.
-
wow! thanks for all the replies guys, yeah von, a lady around the block called the cops when it happend and he came out and filed it and its repoted to the insurance too, cuz they asked for the case number, and the cop told me it was his fault at the fender bender.. so yeah and Rathe the insurance adjsuter didnt come yet, so im still holding on, but ill keep you guys updated! and thanks for all the replies
-
sorry von, I just re- READ that, I dont think I mean the cop was there and looked it over, if so he wrote it in, I just told him what happened.
-
as i thought no reply today my dad said we are gonna wait till thursday, sigh this is gonna take forever

It takes a rather long time, my friend finally got his car taken off his hands. So that is what like 6 weeks, so just be prepared to spend alot of patient waiting for insurance companies. Reason it took so long is they had to get the chick's information. The one who ran into him, doing about 15 and totalled the car. Go figure.

okay some new updates, I got it priced $3200 to fix all the damage, my insurance looks like their gonna pay for it, and sue state farm for the money back, but its not in the shop yet, they just e-mailed erie all the info so ill keep you guys updated
