Title: windows 7 oem pricing because i know you want to know
Post by: nitro237 on September 29, 2009, 09:57:18 PM
newegg will reportedly be selling windows 7 as follows

Home Premium for $100 retail price is $200
Professional $135 retail price is $300
Ultimate $175 retail price is $320

And as of now newegg will not require the purchase of hardware as is usually necessary by Microsoft in order to sell its software.

Even if they did, you just buy the cheapest piece of anything you can find (a $0.99 cable for example) and you still make out way ahead.

Nothing huge. (From my standpoint anyway)

Ultimate just adds these features:

    * AppLocker.
    * BitLocker Drive Encryption
    * BranchCache Distributed Cache
    * DirectAccess
    * Multilingual User Interface Pack
    * Virtual Hard Disk Booting

Well, if the version I get from conference is 64bit or has the ability to install 64bit then there's my copy.

If it's anything like the RTM disc, it should. They didn't make separate versions for 32/64-bit.

Finally have 7 installed. The upgrade was pretty smooth, and it sure is pretty o.O

I did have to kill a few programs from Asus to get rid of some error messaging, but I never used them anyway...

One thing i did notice that kinda bugs me, Firefox launches slower then it did under vista. Vista it was very quick and faster then I.E. Under Windows 7 its a good second or 2 before it pops while I.E. is launching as fast as firefox used to. I call Microsoft conspiracy!
