This looks really cool and could help out future LANs as well.  My parents still rely on a Verizon mifi with a 4Gb/month cap for their sole internet connection (thank you Comcast for not expanding your line 0.7 miles to their house).  The more computers that share that connection, the more of that tiny cap they use up.  This would be a great feature to have for people in similar situations.

he Verge has noticed that a leaked version of the operating system lets you grab updates from other computers, whether they're on your local network or online -- yes, it's a peer-to-peer network for patches. Besides accelerating the upgrade process, the option could save precious bandwidth (important on capped data plans) if you have a multi-PC household. There's no telling when this feature will show up in a Windows 10 build you can try, assuming Microsoft doesn't get cold feet. A new public test release is reportedly coming soon, though, so you probably won't have to wait very long.

If only Steam could follow the same path, I've been saying it for years, Steam should first to look to other clients on the LAN to grab patches/install files from and if none are available then go to the internet.

It would olny be a good option IF you can opt out of 'seeding' publicly.  I am sure they would HAVE to implement some sort of control over that.

I believe he means being able to opt out of seeding. Could you imagine if you machine was busy feeding people while you are playing in a tournamnet? And there needa to be signing of files. Else I worry about someone seeding something bad.

Wouldn't the control be what is validated by your library? Like, if it's not in your library you can't pull it.

I was referring to the windows 10 implementation.  The Holy Gaben would never force his followers to seed.
