Maybe me, whoa can't believe i said that. I have every intention on coming.
-
How many times have we heard that?
-
Is there an incentive to being #100 or #150 for that matter? Maybe VIP Status or a free lapdance from the strippers?
-
nope!
-
I will give the 100th person an ice cold red bull! Come hunt me down at the event!
-
The heck with #100! Who's going to be #150?! :wtf:
-
I think when the remaining seats hist 49, you'll start to see a rush!
-
Won't be any close to 150 players eh? Many people took 2 or 3 seats. Probly for personal space.
-
Well, Krurath, when you have that much porn you need more than one computer to haul it all in ;)
-
Or it could be that one person is reserving spots for a friend or two, thereby assuring that seating is next to each other.
-
Personally, I feel the prize list needs to fill out more to attract more of the "competetion" crowd. Looking over the prize list, things are pretty skimpy. While I understand things progress at a slow rate, especially with sponsorships, it's getting down to less than 50 days until the event.
Now would also be a good time to hit the I-cafe's/Electronic Stores in Harrisburg/Baltimore and the surrounding areas with flyers promoting the event. These don't have to be hand delivered, but emailed with a request to post to an onsite (IRL) Bboard.

Unfortunately we have learned that due to corporate end of fiscal years being July 31 makes it very difficult to get sponsorships for an August event. We also have to remember, that while 150 people is a big lan for central PA, we are still very small on the grand scale of things.
In doing research of other lans, our sponsored prizes are expectional compared to similar sized lans! We have tried very hard to get sponsorships, and probably have contacted 500+ companies. Half of which respond with the message that our expected attendees is too small for them to sponsor.
At this point, we have to take what we can get. As we grow, so will the sponsorship list.
As for the advertising. We used to put out flyers all of the time... but I dont think we got a single person coming to the event who saw us via that. 50 days is a lot of time to fill up this lan. For our last 100 ML in February. We filled up 50 seats in less than a month.
We will be just fine ;)

who was it?

Gus Catalano
-
Sadly I jumped the gun im #31
-
Man I got to get that guy from Bluetek Computers to get me some compensation. You might remember him Pride, he game to the first 100ML when you guys had it at the Auction House. Sam Dubs ring a bell?
-

Incorrect statement. But yes he was there.
-
My fault, anyways I have been working for him.

Yes, I know who he is. Get him to come to the LAN!
-
His major gripe when he went to the 100ML at the auction house, was that it was just a pirate fest. You know what I mean, videos, music, games that sort of thing. So if you can gaurentee that won't happen maybe I can convince him. Let me know your thoughts man. Peace
-
Netbios has been disabled, so leechfest is WAY limited.

that was NOT a pirate fest.
The last big lan really wasn't a leech fest at all, i think a total of 4 people were on the DC hub (2 of them were me.) SMB is blocked at the switch level, and we just have an http patch server up JUST for game patches and maps (nothing grey area)

Just a suggestion. Don't bash a FITES lan until you attend one. Even if it is through a friend. That was over a year ago. And honestly, we don't have to guarantee anything, we let our event speak for itself.
So come or don't come, but stop sitting on the fence. We're tired of it.
-
Wow... Apparently I wasnt kidding when I said that the last 50 seats would go fast! 5 seats today! Hurry up and sign up fast! This baby's going to sell out!

...file shareing is a large part of lans

Only linux iso's and map packs right?
-
Well, there has to be a level of control so it doesnt interfere with the gaming. That is why DC++ is a good way of controlling it (versus allowing shares in netbios)
-
of course linux iso's.... what eles is ther... pron?
rofl... agent
-
lol what I do?
-
lol what I do?
watching pr0n on sullys bill at quakecon (glares at fabio)
-
fabio is the devil. he made me do it.
-
That was awkward to walk in on...
Also, dc++ is nice because it has a search...so i can search for stuff like kubuntu-6.06-desktop-i386.iso
