What's REALLY fun is setting up your computer at your new apartment, knowing you won't have your own internet connection for at least 5 days, then configuring your wireless router to be a repeater for one of the two existing wireless signals that AREN'T secured and getting a sometimes spotty, but very sufficient internet connection.
Damn these people and their locking down of their wireless AP's.
-
What is even more fun is accessing their wireless router setup and changing the password so that they can't lock you out.
-
Ha, nice. I didn't think that far ahead, though.

All of which is against the law. Prepare for a visit from teh party van!

And it's pretty Crapty to change their password.

If they haven't changed it from the default password when it was purchased they are kind of asking for it.

Still pretty Crapty.

No they are not. Maybe you should tell them that they should change their password so asshats don't change it on them.

Still Fudgeing illegal.

Just using what I can to get contact to the outside world, is all. Comcast will be by on thursday to get me nice and legal.
Legal... heh.

Leeching is one thing. But going in and changing settings and passwords is total blackhat.
-
Nah, the only routers I would mess with are owned by Maelor and Aldius, and Aldi uses an air card.... so no go with that one. Besides, I don't even own a black hat. I own a hat that's got a goofy pumpkin face on it, but that's all.

Change their default network name to Secure Me Now!

Someone just moved into the area and has a open AP called "Belkin_G+MIMO_Wireless_E56881." They seem to be physically close to my apartment, as well. I'm getting pretty decent speeds when it comes to loading web pages whereas the other networks would be hit or miss when it came to holding a stable connection with them. Good thing Comcast is supposed to be stopping here tomorrow!
