So I decided to go back and try Kubuntu yesterday just to see how the new KDE feels. I download the ISO, burn it and do an install.. Everything appears to go well however when I do the reboot, it refuses to load the Grub. No biggy except that the disc doesn't offer repair and you have to do everything from Konsole. Also Linux hates my raid setup just like XP so I had to deal with the rural pain in the ass that would be jerry rigging a floppy in my comp to load nvidia raid drivers.
Anywho....after 3 attempts in Kubuntu and about an hour of reading tuturials later, I decide to say screw it and go back to XP. Not a big deal, just boot up windows, load raid drivers and do a repair, fix MBR and be done. WRONG
I go to fix the MBR, Bootsector and rebuild the bootcfg with no luck. It wont even allow a rebuild because the drive is "currupted". I try 3 times with 0 results so I figure I'll just do a windows reinstall. Keeps everything important but gets my XP back...reboot and still get the grub error. Even after launching chkdsk for errors I still can't get the SOB to launch windows. Finally I had to say screw it and do a format reinstall
Bottom line being, fresh OS install because the new Kubuntu would not install the grub properly for a dual boot. And even when I did a full install on my swap and ext2 partitions I still couldnt access it. Just a ton of mess for nothing. And KDE though it looks nice, still doesnt replace Beryl if you go for the uber cool looking GUI on your linux distro. Guess I'm done ranting
So back to starting at level 1 on CoD4 now. I'm already on 14 so I'll be at 55 in no time wooping everyone's asses
