Don't know if anyone saw this or not..but you can actually watch the world cup in ascii code through dos.

I found it quite amusing personally. Just open cmd prompt and run telnet. open to

ascii-wm.net 2006

Pretty cool. Check it out. Just connect about 10 min before hand. I've connected but havn't seen it in action yet...still pretty cool idea

I've seen Star Wars played through ASCII text like this before (actually I think it was just JavaScript on a webpage), but this seems kind of interesting.

I wonder if the stream will be a video feed converted to ASCII characters or if it is more along the lines of what ESPN's website does and just gives you updates when something happens.
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Haha I remember the address for that star wars thing!

telnet://towel.blinken.nl

alternatively, the guys site who made it is at http://www.asciimation.co.nz/ which, by the way, is the very same guy who made the Jet Engine Beer Cooler that appeared on slashdot awhile back. :P

There is actually a linux libary out there that repalces your svga driver with ascii output, used to make text mode quake. I imagine it's a hack on this, or something along the lines

I just caught the end of Ukraine v. Italy, but it wasn't on TV at the same time, so I guess there is a little bit of "text delay" :)
