So I was watching some g4 this morning and saw this ad about this beta movie service called Vongo. It's owned through stars, in which you are allowed to download and watch movies from your computer. I figured since they give a trial, i'll check it out for the day and see what I think. Overall the service isn't bad. I'm recieving 740kbs on average for download speeds. You also can watch stars live on your computer as well. Fee's would be 10 bucks a month, which isn't bad but isn't great. They claim to offer over a 1000 different movie selections, but I've seemed to be limited to not finding that many good mainstream ones.
The catchy part of this all, you have a limited amount of time in which you can watch these movies. In general, stars buys the rights to the movies and after that time, they become unavailble for you to recieve licsenses for. Thats right, the entire thing is based upon Microsoft DMR, which makes me question how they plan to stop piraters from cracking these movies? So anyways, they say that you can transfer the movies to portable devices after you download em....Pretty much you recieve a pass to watch any movie you have for a limited play time (10 hours) then you have to connect online to renew that license again. In anycase, it's not a bad service, but I'll end up cancelling it after the 14 day trial most likely. Just want some input. I'm currently trying to locate the location of where the movies you download are stored on your hd, but have had no luck (havn't really looked hard yet). So your thoughts on this whole thing...
