Well, using ssh to connect via VNC...not just to check steam DL's.
That's Mr. Deception to you.

I just have to get my server on a consistent power supply.  The UPS I have it on currently keeps shutting off.  Then I will put Hamachi on it and remote to my server using RealVNC then RDP or VNC into any other computer at my house.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

Haha!  Mine finished last night!  I dunno what they changed, but it definitely plays like 2k4!  I miss playing this game and now I have a legitament install!

Yeah I'm still not sure EXACTLY how they changed the game to make it feel better. There are a few things that I did notice as being different. Run speed seems a bit faster, its not nearly as easy to kill yourself with the rocket launcher or flak cannon, easier to hit people with the shock, stinger has a tighter spread at longer ranges.. and various other minuscule changes that seems to have made a substantial difference overall.

Oh and lets not forget the slew of new graphical options to check on and off. I unchecked the bloom and depth of field option. It feels a whole lot brighter now and closer to 2k4. Plus the bloom was making my eyes bug out.

Well, I've been checking the steam forums, and from the looks of it, UT3 isn't the only game having these issues. Just seems like the steam DL servers are getting a royal ass raping.

After switching my download region to Japan, I started getting consistent download speeds of 150-200KBps without getting dropped.

roger that.

We do have a FITES Dedicated server up and running, though it's a bit of a chore to connect into it. Still trying to figure out why it isn't advertising, even though it's set to advertise. The webadmin works fine though, hehe. Nstuff, cypher and I tested it out a bit last night. We had a couple major lag spikes on the server but nothing too frequent.

uplink to false and PB disabled? I dont know about 3 but 2004 is douplink = false to have it not broadcast to online web. PB will obviously need to be disabled as well which I'm sure you already did

Grr....Last night while playing on pub servers I got great pings and not lagging.  Tonight, I get bad (100+) pings and tons of lagging to the point where I can't play.  Nothing running in the background, all other machines on my network are off.....this blows.

So how do we connect to it?

UT3 doesn't use PB.

shows how much i know about the new UT. I never played it or even started the dedicated for 3 (though I downloaded it a while back). Sounds like they've made some def changes from 2k4

Well, judging by the response we had in UT3 tonight, I'd say most of us feel it has gotten muuuuuch better. Looks like we'll be replacing UT2k4 as a tourney for our next event ;)

As long as my lag issues don't continue.  Even after fixing the AVG updating problem I did get some lag after a while.  I think it was after there were  8 of us on the server.  It's just weird: i wouldn't think a 70 - 100 ms ping would cause such a huge lag in the game.

Are you sure Steam wasn't updating a game while you were playing? I know when I was playing it was updating my TF2.
