The team behind the 1999 original is working on this one.

Pray to your gods it's out before the next 150?

Gearbox is making A:CM and apparently Obsidian is making a Alien RPG. This is completely different. It seems someone has heard the masses cry for a new AvP game by the original team.

I just did a quick search on google and this is taken from shacknews.com:

"A new Aliens vs. Predator game will arrive in early 2010, publisher Sega has announced, with the company noting that AvP will hit before its other two Aliens games.

That means Gearbox's shooter Aliens: Colonial Marines (PC, PS3, 360) and Obsidian's Aliens RPG won't debut until 2010, at the very earliest. Colonial Marines was originally expected last year, and was recently listed as a Q1 2009 release by Sega Europe."

dude, that would ROCK.  I loved the original.  Played the second a little, but i don't think it had the same creepy factor as the original.

Trust me when I say.... play AvP2.

Conversely, I've played AvP2 and the Primal Hunt expansion, but only a little of the first one. It (AvP gold edition) won't run on WinXP and some guy made a .exe to have it run on xp/vista, but I never really played too far into it. I suppose I should check up on the status of that project. I dunno. That's why I rebuilt my Win98 machine!  :10:

Really, though. AvP2 is freaking awesome. It has a healthy dose of creepy but a HUGE helping of action. I just can't get over the quality of that game.

Figured I'd bring this thread back to the top to keep the hype up.

From Kotaku: "We got our first look at the game last week, but today, we've got a lot more information on Rebellion's upcoming reboot of their classic Aliens vs Predator shooter.

Most exciting is that the Predator class is now no longer just a Marine that can turn invisible. More in line with the species' abilities in the movies, you can now jump and glide between ledges and branches. Think Zelda's Hookshot, or the zero-G sequences in Dead Space, only it's now more suitable for you to be gurgling "motherFudgeer" every time you do it.

The aliens have also been tweaked, and will now move more slowly than they did the original PC game (which is fine by me, as they were too fast in that game). They will, however, retain the ability to scale any surface, meaning you can still run all over the walls and roof.

The game is also being pitched squarely at an adult audience. A report describes the Predator's signature move being one where he picks up a marine, snaps his neck, then tears his head off, which is followed by his spinal column. Once off, the head will continue to blink and gasp, and...well, yes, you get the idea."

Also, check the link and see first screens:
