FIOS is offering a 300/60 package up here, seems like a test market thing. I am jelly as hell im not in a FIOS zone.
For them to offer that speed they would need to bond 8 downlink channels, I dunno if there are any cable modems out that will support that.

Yes, there are most definitely modems out there that will bond 8 channels. Comcast demoed a 1Gbps connection at the 2011 Cable Show in Chicago (running over Chicago's cable system, so no special "this can only exist under these very special circumstances" situation).

Yesterday, this same modem was testing around 66/17 (officially a 50/10 connection).

This is the same modem I will have with me for August's LAN. It doesn't show it here, but on the test page at http://speedtest.comcast.net (http://speedtest.comcast.net) it shows your peak speed during the test and this one spiked as high as 184Mbps downstream!
I also learned today that the 305 service will have a 65Mbps upload speed and should be available "very soon". So basically come February, we'll be rocking the 305/65 connection off of a single modem so any BF3 problems that may or may not have been attributable to a dual-WAN setup last year (this could never be confirmed or denied) will not be an issue because at those speeds, we will only need a single WAN connection! :)
If you subscribe to the Blast or Ultra speed tiers (formerly 25 and 50 connection, respectively), power cycle your modem to pick up the new bootfile and you'll be slurping down packets twice as fast as before!
P.S. I remember a conversation someone was having with Pride one time about internet speeds (at home, not for FITES) and how he wasn't going to switch to DSL because Comcast just doubled his speeds to 3Mbps. He said, and I quote, "That's insane!" I believe this was early 2004, before I started working for Comcast so there was no friendly bias or anything about the statement either. Just imagine where we'll be in another 8 years....

Wouldn't you need a modem that can bond to 8 down streams of DOCSIS 3.0 luvin' (Dunno the actual technical jargon) to get the faster speeds? Would a SB6120 be capable of that?

No, you only need four bonded channels. Each channel provides up to 40Mbps so current modems (including the SB6120 you mention, and I am using) will be good for up to 160Mbps as they are capable of a 4-way bond. It also appears there are now 3 channels bonded on the upstream (2x64 QAM, 1x16 QAM, but I may be looking at the modem status page wrong).
For the 305 service, a newer modem capable of bonding 8+ channels would be needed, such as the Moto SB6180 (http://www.motorola.com/Video-Solutions/US-EN/Products-and-Services/Voice-and-Data-Consumer-Premise-Equipment/DOCSIS-Modems-Gateways-and-eMTAs/Cable-Modems/SURFboard_SB6180_US-EN).

I'm just on the standard plan, but I cycled my modem anyway to see what would happen. I know factors can change results in the space of a second, but this is what I got between two runs to Harrisburg.

Seems I've actually gotten about a 3-4meg boost. Dunno if it's because I moved up the street a bit and am actually closer to a green box than before, but the increase in speed IS there. My up speed has been higher, though. No hate.

I'm on the base DOCSIS3 tier (22/5) and my speeds peak at 110/5. I'm on a business class account and these speeds tend to last a long long time (Do I have unlimited speed boost on a business class account?)
I don't know if we have 8 downstream channels in the area yet but wouldn't mind grabbing a SB6180 once the service is rolled out here to see if I can get insane speeds.

ZX, your logic is a bit flawed here. Firstly, I kind of doubt that your speeds are still at 22/5. That may have been what you signed up for originally, but I'm pretty sure that's not what you have currently (speeds get bumped up all the time). If you want to PM me your cable modem's MAC address (the RF MAC) I can lookup which bootfile you have loaded onto your modem and see what speeds you're currently assigned.
Secondly, the number of channels bonded is based upon the settings in your modem's bootfile. So if you're subscribed to a service that only required 4 channels to bond then that's all you're going to get. Just because you get an SB6180 (which supports 8 channel bonding), doesn't mean it will bond 8 channels and give you extra speed. Where the 8 channel bonding will come into play is when you are subscribed to a service that uses 8 channels, e.g., the 305/65 service when it is launched. For example when the 50Mb service was the top speed offered, even though the SB6120 modem supports 4 channel bonding only 3 channels were bonded at first. That has now been moved to 4 channel bonding, but it illustrates my point.
If you want to take a look at your modem status page, just go to http://192.168.100.1 (http://192.168.100.1) and your modem's status page will come up. On Moto modems it's under the "Signal" page.
Edit: Something else that might be affecting your numbers on performance tests that I discovered when D3 first launched and I was a tester for it, there are some anti-virus programs that screw with the way the numbers are interpreted. Some AV programs I tested would limit to 30Mb no matter what, and others had them spiking ridiculously high. Try disabling your AV and seeing if you get the same results.

Vince, your speeds are just the random fluctuations you'll see when testing at different times of day. Only the Blast and Extreme tiers were doubled (Blast 25->50, Extreme 50->105). The standard and economy tiers were not changed. Also, the distance from the node will not affect your speeds (this isn't DSL :) ).

The upstream speed dropped a bit once I got my own modem instead of the one they gave me, but its been this way since the start.

Guess I just hit a lucky time, then. Just tested again and it came up as 20/down which is more along the lines of what I'm used to seeing. They should double my speeds anyway, just because. Just me. No one else. Well... you guys are okay, I GUESS.

One thing I notice about this whole broadband competition (Blue Ridge vs. Comcast). Is that BR is just as expensive as Comcast in terms of price with only slightly lower speeds. Yet I cannot switch to Comcast due to legal issues with Comcast not being allowed to have their service in my area. Go figure that I don't have a right to a choice in cable providers...

**yes I am yelling at Comcast for this. I will gladly sacrifice the 4-5mb/s dl speeds increases for 4-5mb/s more of the uploads at this point.
I'll take 15/10 please and thank you (vs the 20/5 I'm getting now roughly).
