Well, I was looking through the sound browser in UnrealEd 3.0 today and was trying to get some sound clips to replace my windows sounds. So I was browsing the announcer section and came across a file labeled "instagib". I extracted it and uploaded it for your... or rather, MY enjoyment.

Actually, if you want to get grammatical about it, the soft G makes alot more sense

Examples: Stage, Enrage, Magi, etc...

It's not Instaggib is it? NO! Hence the soft G.

Bad reasoning there.

Insta-gib is short for "Instant Gib"

The only soft G that begins a word that I know of is George and personal nouns are usually excluded as ways to prove how something should be pronounced due to the personal connotation to it.  Golf, Gold, Great, Get, Grape.  They are all hard G's.  That is why Insta-Gib should be Insta-Gib, not Insta-Jib.

BUT it is NOT Insta-Gib. There is NO hyphen in the word. Nowhere in the official UT universe was there ever a hyphen. It was never called Instant Gib before. It was always Instagib, and by that reasoning, it is grammatically Correct.

95%(if not the full 100%, I left the margin(ha) for the words I don't know about.. or like gigabyte :P ) of the time if an I, E, Y, or U follows a single g, then it is soft.

I say it gib not jib and, I own those guys at insta so thats all that matters to me. I don't care if they made the game or the mod. It's called slang you can't make everyone say it a certain way.
