I'm sorry, but that is a bullsh!t statement on his end.  If anything, that's why mid and high end PC's are manufactured.  I think he will be opening his mouth and inserting his foot pretty soon.

  I think Intel, AMD, Nvidia and Microsoft are counting on PC Gaming, We don't need Quad core procs and stupid fast GPU's to run a web browser and office when a 5+ year old celeron/duron will do just fine.  I believe strongly that PC gaming is driving most innovation.

This. We wouldn't have the advancement available today for consoles if it weren't for PC gaming. Demand for bigger, better, and faster is what propels innovation. That guy's a tool.
