120 lbs for a calculator...Pretty interesting comparing technology from yester-year to the present and seeing how far we've become
-
Not exactly sure what this "match class" is that you refer to, but it must be pretty amazing to warrant the use of a 120 lb paperweight.
-
It's the class where they teach people who fail at math how to make matches so they can sell them for a penny a piece on the street corner. You need the giant calculator to calculate the optimum match head-to-match stick ratio....or something.
-
Intriguing.

Why the street corner? Why not a insane asylum? Pyromaniac's would love that, they can get a few pennies.

?

Yet another thread gone awry.
-
It was a reference to the Great Depression where destitute children would sell matches for a penny and apples for a nickel just so their family could maybe buy something to eat for dinner that night......*hangs head in shame*
-
I think you forgot about the demographics of your audience sully. No one in the forums was alive during the depression and we are all obsessed with computers (most likely an accurate generalization but I appologize in advance for any I may have offended) and not looking into the history of the United States and it's economy.

I got it, my '?' was for Tibs' reply.

History??? Mr Gloom and doom over here is hoping that it wont be within the next year that my kids are doing this. Bad moon arising if you ask me.

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU SELL APPLES IF YOU NEEDED FOOD! /wrists

As was my reply.

If you're poor and have apples, it'd be better to either eat the apples or trade the apples directly for other forms of food than to sell them for nothing and have to wait until you sell a significant amount of apples to buy food again.
