I'm not sure if you remember Jon (Nitro) or not but he has this small comp repair shop over in Columbia. Anyways, he and his partner have decided to throw monthly lans. Nothing huge, just like 6-8 people at a shot
Anyways, I've been elected to configuring the network (which is just DHCP server, Teamspeak which I already did, YNHub for DC++ affairs and Games)
I've come across File Daemon which I've found is really really nice handy tool for dedicated server launches. I've been working at this now since around 1 and so far I'm very impressed. Before finding this, I would launch dedicated servers for UT and such off batch files which worked ok.
With FileDaemon, I'm able to make services which can be used to setup dedicated servers and launches. I've made stand alone services to launch CoD 2 CTF, DM, and TDM along with UT DM, CTF, and TDM (with UTComp mod and instagib add ons)
I'm currently working on Fear MP then later CS:Source (with the Zombie Mod Add On when I get the chance to read into it)
There is so many options you can do with this program its insane. You can launch with a dedicated core (for dual core setups) exec commands on launch and close, dedicate individual cfg files for each service (like my CTF has a dedicated CTF.cfg file for CoD2 which allows custom setup for map rotation and so fourth)
Anyways, not to bore you on the subject, but it's a VERY VERY nice and useful app that allows a lot of customization. If your a server guru and haven't heard of it before, give it a DL.
