I think we all can agree this is somehow completely Sullys fault.

I think you found a new excuse for Decepticon to use. Remember that phrase, whenever your Comcast is sucking.

Not a new excuse, it's been my fault for awhile now ;)

Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

Well, you asked, so here goes.  (Btw, i switched to fios from comcast a few months ago).

Comcast Good:
* For 6 years, the connection has mostly been solid.  When it wasn't, it was either a local neighborhood issue which was fixed in a few hours or my cable modem was dying.
* I loved that when I called comcast sales or tech support, i got someone in an office in York or our near Lancaster (i think).  I always asked if they knew of Sean, but they never did.  Hmmm.   :)
* When I called to cancel, the complete phone call from dialing to hanging up lasted roughly 5 minutes.  That was mostly because i was incredulous that it was that easy and i kept asking if they needed anything else.  The very fact that they made it so easy to cancel gave me a really good impression that depending on situations, i would have no problems going back.
* If you called every 6 months or so, depending on who you got, you could get a good deal to save you some $$... i could also consider this a bad thing that if they were willing to go lower, then they should have done that to keep me happy from the start, but i digress.
* After moving to Hershey 6 years ago, i started with 3Mb / 384Kb and up to a few months ago, i was getting 30Mb / 10Mb.  The fact that they kept upgrading and not leaving me on the base tier and simply offering the faster speeds for more money kept me very happy.  As soon as Fios showed up in my area 2 years ago, i stayed with comcast because, at the time, they were equal in price and speeds.

Comcast Eh / Why i switched to Verizon Fios.
* Damn ARP requests being allowed past the modem freaking out both my modem and my router (constant data light blinking from all the arp packets).  I think the constant hits caused my cheap netgear router to die an early death.  The blinking all of a sudden started to happen over a year ago and comcast never fixed it.
* Comcast keeps raising their rates.  Just before I switched, I was getting the (blast!) speeds internet and basic digital + hd.  no dvr, no hbo or any other movie channels.  I was paying $150/mo.  That's stupid expensive.

* Verizon gave me $250 in cash just for switching.  Was $50/mo lower than comcast and gave me 25Mb/25Mb internet speeds.  No install or activation fees.  Plus a free DVR for a year.  yeaaahhh... easy decision there.  Oh yeah, no contract, but with a price guarantee for 2 years.
* Comcast did their annual rates increase (6%) a few days after I switched, making me ever more happy for doing so.
* Comcast nuked most of their analogue stations (channels 2 - 77 or so) rendering my tv tuner card mostly useless.  This was always a benefit for comcast that kept me from switching, oh well.

So far, Bad about Fios:
* Calling Verizon for any reason usually entails waiting on hold for 30 minutes or longer and talking to someone in another state or country.
* Having to use their stupid router, though I've mostly neutered it so it's not too bad.
