Spent some time in the ER last night
« on: October 14, 2005, 10:57:56 AM »
Went to bed just fine around 10... midnight I woke up to the phone ringing. When going back to sleep, noticed I was having difficulty breathing...

I thought it would pass... so I walked around my apartment, and tried to fall back asleep several times between midnight and 3:30 AM. Didnt work... still having shortness of breath.

Drove myself to the ER at 3:30.. they ran Bloodwork and XRay's... and told me I am healthy as an ox. Sent me home...

Slept from 6 AM till 10 AM this morning pretty well... but now I am at work, and I can still feel it in my chest... harder than normal to breath.

I guess I wont be doing any marathons this weekend (as if I would anyway)

If it continues, GO BACK. Sometimes that Crap means you're having a heart attack. Or, you could be lucky like me and have a lung collapse on you. Wait a tick ... is it painful ?

i didnt think so either, but as soon as i started taking meds for it, the chest pain went away.

I got real bad chest pain while i was driving and working (or atleast thats when i noticed it)

Dr did a EKG and found no problems... so hes just like it is probably just acid reflux.

Describe the sensation a bit more for me. Did it feel like you were breathing through a straw? Was there any chest pain associated with this difficulty breathing? How about tingling in your fingers or down your arms?  :headscratch: Did it feel like someone was sitting on your chest? Did sitting in certain positions help you breath better?

I'm sure they asked you this at the ER but I'm curious as to your answers. That and I have to flex my EMT skills whenever I can.  :2thumbsup:
