And I have no idea what to do with it. It was too good of a deal to pass up, its a little light on memory (4GB) though. I figure It would make a nice trans coding machine but I don't really have enough work to keep it occupied.
-
Seems like everyone is getting deals.
-
How sweet was this deal and can it happen again?

About $130 shipped . It has no hard drives, its got 2 SAS/SATA2 hot swap bays and as I said before its a little light on RAM. Its a 1U server but its using blower type fans so it shouldn't be super datacenter-only loud. If they had any more I would of snagged them myself.

DAMN... *sadface*

I think there might be a dual dual core available, I'm gonna check it out.
-
I just need another rig for another server for myself and that would do nicely.
-
I am working up some prices on servers we have at work. All are rack mount HPs I think with 2 gateways thrown in there. If anyone is interested I will post the list.
-
Rackmountable doesn't mean crap if they're dual PIII 500's. What are the specs of the servers you're talking about?

I got my server in the mail today. I am so stoked.
Wow, its was all that and a bag of chips. I guess ill see if I can find more memory for it, no drive sleds came with it but Chenbro sleds seem to work, I could use bare drives. I'll have to set aside an afternoon to get it up and running. I got some more memory and drive sleds off of ebay, they should be in next week.

I was looking at the DL380 G4 myself before I decided it'd be best to just upgrade my current rig to i7 andd use the existing quad as a second server.
-
Well I just got an updated project list and all the servers are to be sold. So if anyone wants any, drop me a line with a bid and I will pass it up the ladder and see what they say. If any other specs are wanted, just let me know and I will drag out the system and fire it up.

You might want to start up a new thread in the Swap Meet board and include all relevant information.
