Snow Day

So, for all of us in the Cumberland Valley School District, today was a snowday.  After all the shoveling and blowing, what does a shut in bored highschool senior do? He hooks his brand new 7800GT up to the 51 HDTV for some suhweet gaming.

1920x1080 = chug-a-lug for most games. CS Source ran real nice.

Playing on 720p is much much better for framerate and image quality. (fewer graphical errors for some reason)

Has anyone else tried HD gaming? I think the 16:9 is to die for.

But wouldn't you be playing everything at 30FPS? :P  Since that's standard NTSC frame rate?

in theory yes, but you can do 720p60 (60fps.)

and the human eye can only really "refresh" at ~60hz, so the higher frames aren't really a loss

Right, I've been doing most gaming at 720p. However the extreme res (1080i) still bogs down my machine enough to affect playability.

Kinda humbling to find the limits of a system you've just built, but its all good.
