here's a little more info from the same site for those who want to know.

Harmonix is planning to release six full albums by the end of the year for the video game franchise.

With the release of Rock Band 2 only weeks away, developer Harmonix have revealed that in addition to the release of Rush’s “Moving Pictures” in the coming weeks, would-be rockers can anticipate six more albums before the end of the year.

These albums are:

01. “The Colour and the Shape” by Foo Fighters
02. “Blood Sugar Sex Magik” by Red Hot Chili Peppers
03. “Nothing’s Shocking” by Jane’s Addiction
04. “Peace Sells… but Who’s Buying?” by Megadeth
05. “Texas Flood” by Stevie Ray Vaughan
06. “The Best of No Doubt (Rock Band Edition)”

As it stands right now, there are three full albums available for download in the game. Judas Priest’s “Screaming For Vengeance”, The Cars’ self-titled debut album “The Cars”, and the Pixies’ “Doolittle”. Along with these albums, there is a 15 track “The Best of The Who” pack available as well as Boston’s self-titled debut album “Boston”, minus the final track “Let Me Take You Home Tonight”.

Following the release of Rock Band 2, Harmonix plans to also release 20 songs free of charge. All downloadable content will also be forwards and backwards compatible between Rock Band 1 and Rock Band 2. They also plan to implement a song importing feature that will allow you to download all songs on the Rock Band 1 disc to your hard drive to be played through Rock Band 2. Their goal for the remainder of the year is to have over 500 songs available for the franchise.

Wow out of 84 songs I have to say I was actually a little disappointed... at least a few songs I played back in Guitar Hero II, and then maybe 8-12 songs I'm excited to play...

Hmm.

I like about 75% of that list....and remember that you will be able to use your DLC from RB1.

yes you can and also apparently they are also going to give you a program to allow you to copy the songs from your RB1 disk onto your HDD so if you want to play a song from it you dont have to change disks.

i never really liked these games that much.  I guess i just don't see the point of practicing a simulated instrument.  play the real thing.  It'll be more rewarding.

When you're good at video games and suck at real life instruments, then realize you can actually do well at this game it is fun. Real guitar is difficult for me because my hands/fingers are weird. This isn't. So, for people that can't but can, it's fun. Plus it's good music.

you say the same thing about WoW. I think that just because you aren't any good at either one of them. lol
also I do play real guitar. I just like the challenge of playing the game too.

i can play guitar hero.  i can't play wow. the only thing i say about wow is i suck at it.  im not really great at guitar hero but then again i only ever played a few times at the lan.  And im more so referring to the people that spend huge amounts of time practicing their guitar hero to be like some uber plastic guitar god!!!!  If they would put the same effort into the real thing i think it would more fullfilling to them.  just my opinion.

so.... all those hours i put into playing diablo 2, cod4, starcraft, all the various Unreal games, duke nukem 3d... if i had spent my time doing something useful with my index finger, i'd be an index finger twiching god.  And that would really be worthwhile.  I mean, seriously, i could probably have already had my own tv show by now.

your missing the point... theres really no alternative to playing ut3 or other fps's that r legal.  where guitar hero and playing the real thing is.  if your just srguing for the sake of arguing fine...  like i said it's just my opinion. if you don't like it fudge off!!!!

"fudge off"  That's not a Hershey joke is it?  :P  I just let my smartass personality out and it was all in jest.  To be honest, I can see your point, especially for those that really are competitive about it.  But for people like you and me, we play to chill.  Pass the time.  Have fun with a group of people in the room.  My biggest beef with rockband is spending so much money on songs you already have or own.  Not sure the economics of it, but I’m sure the RIAA is getting some or a lot of money from rockband itself and subsequent music downloads, so that just rubs me the wrong way.  Otherwise, fun game.

AHHH ya dirty bastage ya know i was only yankin yer chain. LOL. but alot of us, such as me, who play rockband or guitar hero. seem to have a natural ability for playing these rhythm games. I mean hell I was good at parappa the rapper and frequency. but, as you very well know, I don't get the time to practice guitar to become as good as some people (looking at you Dave) so for me grabbing my rockband guitar and jamming on a few songs before work works for me. but I do understand what you mean Dave if I put all the hours I accumulated playing GH into focused time playing a real guitar I could kick Jimmy Pages' ass LMAO.

What the eff movie is that!? That is hilarious!

I must have missed something...

If I spent more time not playing video games, how can I be good at the video games? You can't "beat" someone in real guitar, but you sure as hell can "beat" them in a video game.

(in this instance beat = quantified, conclusive win)
