Venue may be locked down from 11 PM to 7 AM per York City laws (Exceptions will be made on a limited basis)

What does that mean in simpler terms?

Also will there be some sort of a tech support or help on site? Cause I might need help setting my comp up for the lan. Right now its on fully file share but I want to change that for serveral reasons. Sadly I do not posses the knowledge to change these settings.

Virus scanner does Fites prefer any scanner over another? From personal experience which AV is more lan friendly?

Firewalls I currently have none but even with this i've done a port scanner recently (http://www.speedguide.net/scan.php). For some odd reason alot of my games give my connections errors, like quake3 + 4(which I haven't played since reinstall) take forever to connect to server. Source has datacache.dll crashes. But back to the ports from the scanner I get the result 'filtered?'

Filtered UDP ports do not respond to a scan as well. However, the UDP protocol is not lossless, and does not respond to all requests by definition. Therefore, the lack of response does not guarantee that a port is being filtered. We have send a few requests without response, and it is reasonable to believe the ports are filtered.
Will someone be able to help me with this issue or will it not affect me at lan?

I understand and I quote

Have your computer in good working condition. We are not a pc support service!
but probably any average user could help, give the advice, or even the simple answer I require. If I get replies fast enough I might beable to do this now and not beg or be a burden tomarrow.

Basically, we don't want people running around york in the middle of the night for no reason.

I am sure that there will be many people there to help you if you need.

Personally I use norton.  Virus software is generally not what is annoying at a lan.  Firewall software tends to be a little annoying if it is not setup right.

I have nod32(on comp right now), McAfee, Panda, Avast, AVG, Norton and some other ones. I would just have to install and update them. I'm thinking about taking out one of my harddrives before going coming to fites, its just a empty drive that I use to hold backup info. But I can use my other drive for that.

If you are running Windows XP SP2, you have the XP Firewall installed... make sure that is disabled.

As for support.. yeah, you can get some help there.  Just try not to take advantage of it ;)

As for AV.  You should always have that installed.  I run Norton Corp.
