I have a sinkin suspicion, based upon the pure enjoyment factor of TF2, that it will dominate alot of time.  Just a gut feeling.

I hope to have a beta of my first custom TF2 map ready for testing by LAN time!

well i was just wondering.  I really like TF2 and all but my short attention span won't allow me to play the same game throughout the entire lan...

I wouldn't mind. From what I played on the demo it feels like Quakelfield 2. But runs better than the EA games... Well, that isn't saying much... I should just say... IT RUNS!

I always hear about these people having a lot of problems with BF2 but i've got three different computers. a mix of AMD and intel procs and a mix of ati and nvidia cards and I've never had 1 stinking problem with that game.  As of the last lan i ran the servers and they ran flawless.  I was just wondering what all the "it' doesn't run for crap" posts are about.

Okay BF2 ran great when a patch didn't mess it up. But as for 2142... Never got it to launch.

Yeah, I always had issues with the game frigging patching...It would try to patch, then fail...Then I wouldn't be able to launch the thing so I would have to uninstall, reinstall and try to patch all over again. Was such a pain that after the 5th time of trying to get the thing to work and failing that I said screw it. Hasn't been installed since.

Welp, based on what everyone is sayiong that TF2 will be the main focus of the LAN'er this weekend, I will not be able to make it.  Right now I can not afford TF2 (just paid $450 to get my wife's brakes fixed) and if everyone will be playing it, I don't want to be the Odd one out playing games by myself.  I looked for a way to take my name out of the registry, but can't.  So if someone has the ability, could you take me off the reg so that a seat can open for someone else if they would like to attend.  Next time I should be able to make it tho!
That's Mr. Deception to you.

I don't know how much of a main focus it's going to be, from what I am hearing is that many people won't have it.

I know I only have 1 copy and I am bringing a friend on my back up rig.  So one of us will be out of playing it...don't cancel cause you are afraid of not being able to play something.  There are always people willing to play something else.  Especially a good RTS every now and then.

Would it be a good idea to get a gaming schedule for the event together? That way we know what games have to be purchased prior if we don't have them.

Thanx

Normally, the monthly LANs have been a bit more informal and not real schedule to say... But I have a solution...Or at least a thought... Most of us have HL2 and a bunch of us have ordered the Orangebox... So we have TONS of HL2 licenses... I can make a copy of Fortress Forever available on the network. (www.fortress-forever.com) It is just an HL2 mod that gives the feel of the Classic Team Fortress Days...
We also have Quake 3 and many, many, many, many mods for it and right now you can get Q3 for free so we won't have any lack of games, no matter what your system specs are... So I think it's safe to say we will have plenty to play! Honestly I wouldn't mind a room full of people on some sort of Quake3 Mod at some point... I know Rathe would be with me on this one!
