Quake Live
« on: April 28, 2011, 11:50:46 AM »
Hey guys,

I'm not sure how many of you play it, but I recently purchased a "Pro" subscription to Quake Live which grants you the abillity to host private servers, and a bunch of other stuff.  I'm a pretty big fan of the Quake and UT series, so I figured why not.  So, I can now host a private server for up to 16 players and was wondering if anyone would be interested enough to play as a group on occasion?

For those that don't know what it is, Quake Live is an enhanced and free version of Quake 3 Arena and you can download and play it at www.quakelive.com for free after you create an account.  What I really love is how quickly and easily you can join servers and get up and running if you don't have it setup.  They do have two different subscriptions that give you access to more maps, gameplay modes, and some other stuff but the standard account is still free and will let you access a good majority of the base content.  Also, anyone that would create a standard account would be able to join my private server without any issues.

Anyway, just thought I would let you guys know and to see who might interested.  It might be fun to get some 8 v 8 team deathmatch or capture the flag games going at some point.  Just let me know and I would be more than happy to set up a server for whatever game type, map rotation, etc. that everyone would want :)

Yes you did sir ;)

I had a real close game against r0bVious after that one, but lost it.  A shame...was actually hoping to play him in the finals :P

I know some of my favorite times of playing Quake 3 were playing the Excessive mod at the FiTHLan events.  I remember one where we did a 30 minute capture the flag that went into overtime because it was tied 1-1.  15 minutes later someone finally scored and it was done.  My hands were shaking like a leaf after that.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.
