This is taken right from an article at Actiontrip:

"In this week's edition of German magazine Der Spiegel, Phil Harrison, president of Sony Computer Entertainment's Worldwide Studios, addresses the issue of Sony's alleged copying of the Wii motion-sensitive controller with their own PS3 tilt-sensitive controller, but what's even more precious is Phil's prediction that PS3 will literally kill the PC as a gaming platform:

Besides defending the PS3, Harrison took time to evangelize the device, which will launch worldwide this November. In particular he said the Linux-based operating system on the console's hard drive will have enough processing power and non-gaming functionalities to render traditional PCs--most of which use a form of Microsoft's Windows OS--moot in the home. "We believe that the PS3 will be the place where our users play games, watch films, browse the Web, and use other [home] computer functions," said Harrison. "The PlayStation 3 is a computer. We do not need the PC."

Phil, baby, do you know how many people are gaming/browsing the net for porn/gaming at work? Phil... baby... are they gonna have PS3s at work? Am I gonna be able to work in Photoshop, download porn, movies AND play games on the PS3 while chatting with my friend WITH A FudgeING KEYBOARD? Phil, seriously. Drugs. Bad."

Lol! What a fruit! Like I'd want to shell out $600 for a subpar computer that can only do half of what my regular PC can do! Consoles should stick to games, nuff said (commends Nintendo who still has his business).

I love my nintendo products. I turn it on. IT WORKS. I play. I turn off I go about my business. I don't wonder if there areupdated drivers to fix that glitch in Mario or some Crap. I just found it scarey that consoles are going to want to push updates over the network! But nintendo I trust to give me more content. The Wii is just looking sexy. It's not always about power it is about fun! Speaking of which I am going to go use MY COMPUTER to play Super Mario World!~

Another thing that bugs me about what that guy said. PS3 will replace computers.... ok, but one of the main reasons people buy consoles is that they are so much cheaper than PC's. But, you idiots, you went and made the PS3 the most expensive console to date! That defies the purpose somewhat, does it not?

If the rising prices in the console world continues, then they'll lose an advantage. And actually, I'll go on to quote a friend i was discussing this with a few mins ago:

I still have my Super Nintendo..for just one game (Uncharted Waters) that I love to roll out when I am bored.  Altho, I still have several games for that system lyin around.

apparently,  Sony is touting that the PS3 is to last the user 10 years.  Im sorry but in 1 year their console is going to be blown away by the PC in every way.  

I think the consoles at one time gave the PC a run for it's money but it's all coming back to the PC. Will the real slim shady please stand up?

I'm with llDayo and ShadowHawk... Nintendo is the way to go.  I've owned nintendos since the first one, and I'm preordering a Wii when they're out.   this PS3 stuff just getting dumber and dumber as it goes on.  If I wanted to pay $600 for a linux box, i'd pay $600 for a linux box and probably get better hardware...  

Although this brings up an interesting point... will we be able to play PS3 games on a linux box?  The linux community is rather resourceful afterall....

probly not... xbox ran a chopped and screwed win 2k os... but when you try to find emulator you will be very unlucky... although i have found one that will run halo, and a app that converts xbox games into win exe files....
