Title: power supply to mobo grounding.... extra grounding wiring?
Post by: -Sp()()ge- on January 14, 2006, 08:45:41 PM
Anyone ever hear of ruuning a wire from the mobo metal screw holes to the PS? I was going to make an all Lexan type case which means no direct contact of metal between the mobo and other metal for "grounding".   The PS does plug into the mobo with a 12V P4 plug and the standard wide 2X8 plug.
All i have found is about grounding through a surge protector.  Anyone heard of "grounding" the mobo with the extra metal connection to the PS?  What exactly would this grounding be?

Thanks for the help

Is there any metal to meatal connection from the mobo to the power/supply other than the wiring out of the power supply?

Basically, no valdity to the grounding issue as long as the all proper cords are being run from the PS to their designated source.

Thanks for the info.

on my case the only wires going to the psu from the mobo are the 2 p4 cables.  other then that there is nothing.

With all due respect..., you screw the power supply into the case....  What the heck are you trying to accomplish?
