Sitting here downloading fedora2, and curious to see what everyones choice of os is.
This is on your primary machine
-
waiting for 64-bit Windows XP Pro.....any day now.
Wait, it's Microsoft.....Any year now.....
I know, there's a PR out there, but I don't want to put that on my main machine, and VMWare won't load a 64-bit guest OS on a 32-bit host.
Anyone know if Virtual PC will? I have a legit copy downloaded from my school's MSDN subscription, but it won't install so I can't test it myself.

hard drive partitions!
-
I see you forgot to add DOS to that list. I am truly ashamed, tekie.
DOS for me!
-
can't edit polls :(
-
you force me to walk a fine line.

hard drive partitions!
Don't want to reboot all the time just to play around and I used up all my spare parts putting together my Domain Controller.
And the fact that I don't have a "spare" A64 laying around :)

I saw an article in MaximumPC a few years ago of a guy who put something like 127 different OS's on his machine, just because he was told it was impossible to do.
-

vmware or actual os'es (would love to see a lilo screenshot)
-
actual OS's.....I wish I still had the article...it would have been back in 2001 or 2002 (that's when I had an active subscription). I'll see if I can find it.

For my primary machine, I'm using Windows 7 but I'm looking forward to SteamOS.
-
Bump from 2004, lol.
Anyhoo, I was gonna ask something like this for my new build:
Windows 7 vs Windows 8.1? I'm thinking 8.1 with metro disabled.

LOL looked at poll options and thought WTF. Then saw date of thread. nice.

Windows 2000!!! I have fond memories of that OS when it first came out. This magical thing called protected memory along with actual working USB plug-n-pray. And wasn't that shadow under the cursor just so sexy? Wondering things.

I have 8 on my work laptop and I am loving it. Been very stable and very quick. Still working on upgrading to 8.1 but it is tricky cause I am using a KMS key vs. a MAK key. Will have to do an upgrade install to get it probably.
-
I got 8 OEM (not pro, don't need the extra remote desktop options and that saved me some cash) cheap from newegg. No problems whatsoever except for metro.
Die, metro. Die.
Installed 8.1 the day it came out and haven't had any problems with that, either. Just recently went looking for a 8.1 iso since the 8.1 "upgrade" has to be done via the windows store, but found that M$ hadn't officially released a download outside of technet/msdn subscriptions up to that time and discovered a way around that. Installed from a "official" 8.1 install disk and smooth sailing after that. Even worked with my legit OEM key.

If you have 8 or 8.1: http://www.classicshell.net/ (http://www.classicshell.net/)

I got 8.1 as a direct download off of whatever they are calling the school MSDN thing now. Full legit install and retail key.
