Post by: The Nstuff on June 13, 2008, 10:11:07 PM
Should have posted earlier this week, but you don't have to wait for Firefox 3 since Opera 9.5 is now out and is way better.  :)

The beta of FF3 has been out since last year. I started using it at beta2. Since then, there has been beta's 3-5, then RC1 and currently RC2.

I would use Opera but I miss a lot of the FF extensions. I'll check this new version out tho anyways.

Or just use something that's better and be happier.  :)

I tried the new version of Opera. Nothing new about it for me. Still the same, very un-customizable browser it has always been. Though, it is smooth and it has low resource usage. That's about the only pull it has for me right now. Which certainly isn't enough.

I finally got through just now, after about two hours of trying. This might help you cut through the line a little bit too: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/products/download.html?product=firefox-3.0&os=win&lang=en-US

That link seems to be coming up pretty well, but the general link I posted above is very sluggish.

Well they're trying to break a new record for the most downloads in a single day. There was 500,000 dedicated to downloading it today just in the US alone

Map of where the downloads have occurred:

Come on Canada! You're letting Iran beat you in number of downloads! And you call yourself a country!? And those asshats in Svalbard and Jan Mayen (don't ask me, I've never heard of it before today) have a whopping 0! How can we have a world record if the world doesn't participate!?

I downloaded FF3 last night.  Except for a couple of addons not working (AVG and Skype still don't work but I am not upset about those) I love it.  I don't care for the awesome bar, so I got an addon that makes it work like it did in FF2.  A lot quicker and I like the new look of it.  Now all I need to do is get a computer for myself at work so i can install it there.

I like the extended titles in URLs along with the new bookmark system. I dont really care for the new addy bar but thats why they invented skins right...

I didn't like the "awesome bar" at first, but it has really grown on me. I love it now. speeds up my surfing bigtime.

Ditto here. I've even begun to just type a word or phrase I know is in some of my bookmarks into the awesome bar instead of clicking through the folder structure. It helps me find what I'm looking for in just a few keystrokes rather than trying to remember where I filed something, much like the instant search Vista does in the start menu.
