I just caught the new trailer for the Star Trek movie coming out next summer and I have to run home and change my work pants.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/startrek/large_trailer2.html
Its no Voyager movie, but it looks great!
-
It looks like it should be a good movie. I doubt a lot of the older Star Trek fans will enjoy it as I think they are trying to attract the younger crowd. The actor for Spock looks really good though Kirk could have looked more like Shatner.
-
We need to coordinate a FITES sanctioned trip to see it!
-
Nerds. :elaugh:
-
jj abrams... is this the same dork who made that turd of a movie about the big monster in NYC that Agent likes so much oh yea cloverfield:(
-
i agree it looks good but the Trekies will be having a hissie fit over it
-
Ah I'm a Trekie..and love it!

do you dress up as you favorite character & stand inline for hours to get an autograph that really means nothing?
-
Ha I did just that to get Michael Dorn's (Worf) autograph ..years ago. Bought a commicator pin that made noises and wore it around.

Nerds.

Wow... mega nerd.
-
Years ago like..15 years ago. Still got the pin though!

prolly more like last week after you dug the pills outa yer crap!
-
So I take it this is an even numbered movie? What is it now? 8? 10? 2384739204?
-
11 i think..yeah?
-
If it's 11 doesn't that mean it's supposed to suck? Aren't the odd ones the bad movies and the even numbered ones good?
And I just watched the trailer, Spock is played by the guy who plays Sylar on Heroes. I'm not really a Trekkie, but I'd watch that.

You`ll be happy to know I took an anal culture with a swab last week in microbiology class and its incubating on a petri dish as we speak. Tonight I`ll get to see what fuzzy things are growing from it.

Downloading the trailer in 1080p, because I can't stand to watch trailers/movies in little windows.

Are you gonna do a taste test?
-
*Gently presses the tip of his tongue to the petri dish*
"BLEH! This tastes like ass!"
....

btw, trailer looks decent. By no means have i gotten my hopes up that the movie won't suck. First Contact was the last movie that I really loved and i consider it the top 2 (along with ST2 - Kahn).
Yes, this is an odd movie which means it already has a stigma against it. But since 10 wasn't that great, there's always room for growth.
I miss the days when star trek was about scifi and not just about the alien of the week and space ships.

Bah. I miss Voyager. Best ST series, hands down.
-
Star Trek Nemesis and the one about the whales (ST4 I think?) were the worst ones IMO.

I actually enjoyed nemesis. The battle scenes were great and the Scimitar was an awesome looking ship.
-
Sure the ship was awesome... but the plot and acting suuucked.

The acting wasn't any different from any other TNG episode. It was almost all the same actors. That is one of my main issues with the Star Trek movies. They are all basically double length TV episodes with better special effects.
-
Whaaaaat?! ST:4 The Voyage Home was actually pretty good!
-
*puts face in palms and sighs*
Looks like the world is truly doomed.
Check, please!

man you are truly a weird dude but thats ok cause i can appreciate your weirdness. Anything in the name of science!!!!! especially if it's anally related.

The teacher was handing back the incubated petri dishes and some came back empty! Nothing growing. Instantly busted those that took their dishes and swabs to the bathroom and didn't actually swab. Mine, on the other hand, came back all fuzzy...in the shape of a smiley face since I decided to inoculate the petri dish in an artistic fashion.

Nothing like adding some humor and fun to science. Kinda like in my Chemistry lecture the first year in college when the Prof poured liquid nitrogen on his feet and said it helped relax them after standing all day.
