Oh god what a terrible past week. now dealing with statefarm
« on: April 11, 2006, 03:46:41 PM »
Ok so i totalled my car on friday night. and i finally got to talk to state farm today.

they gave me this spiel about them having to tow the car to another lot (near philly, i live in Harrisburg(1.5hours from philly)) to inspect the car and figure out the damage to it. then after the car has been inspected they will cut a check. now that all sounded pretty good till i asked him the time frame we are talking.

and he said to me 3-5 days to pick the car up, 1-2 days to tow it to Philly area, 5-10 days to inspect the car. then 3-14 days for the check to be cut.

now when i add that up i get a max of 5+2+10+14 thats a little over 4 weeks.... is this normal????

i mean i dont have a car to drive in the mean time. and i cant buy a car in the mean time. i need the money from that car to pay off the bank loan....

so i'll have no car for 4-5 weeks?

anyone else have this happen.

most people that i have talked to have a check cut within like 2 weeks

i was involved.   i slid off the road, i hit a telephone pole.

Friday i was envolved in a nice accident.

Setting:
10pm
country road
heading up a mountain to take lighting pics
20mph, blind turn, driveway straight ahead looked like the road.   road was a sharp left.

3 purple finger nails, 3 cracked nails, brush burn on my right hand, steering wheel black and blue on my stomach (the bottom half under the air bag)

I am okay.  Car totalled. tele pole = okay.

never thought i'd see oil there.

this car saved my life.

and to think, if PA road were actually painted or paved level  or had proper signage. this might not have happen.

The times I have wrecked the insurance adjuster came to my house, helped me get it to a local shop and cut the check directly to the shop for the work.  That doesn't sound right to move the car to Philly to get it checked out.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

Yeah it usually takes that long to cut checks, my friend waited a month for his, but then again his car wasn't taken till two weeks ago. Yeah he definetly got T-Boned, explorer vs beretta. Explorer won, and only doing 15MPH to total the car. Now I don't mean to be rude, your car was a volkswagon, I got nothing on VWs. But I just thought it funny cause Pride has that german dude from the commercials. Smash the auto ya!

Good thing you are in good spirits and health. I wish you the best and on finding a new car.

When we had the fire a couple years ago, the insurance adjuster met me a couple days later and cut a check on the spot. That was through Met-Life.

Maybe it's just different with cars. I've never filed anything for auto insurance.

But anyways, glad to hear you're ok. I just realized you are the second person I know that was in an accident Friday night. She rolled her car three times and was unconscious when the ambulance found her, but is also ok.

Who will be the third? They always happen in threes, right?
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!
