So I've been debating for a while about getting a new mouse. And since i've decided to attend the lan. i figured I'd go out and get one before the lan.
Went out and got the logitech g5. I've been in and out of Circuit City about 4x seeing if I like the overall feel and layout...and I must say that I'm pretty excited. The on the fly dpi adjustment should be a plus and the wieght system should allow it to run smooth. Anyone else hooked up with a g5? it was either that or a razor copperhead. Overall i think it'll be a little bit of a help for me. I was running a bottom line optical mouse which had like 600 dpi and would randomly spaz on me... (more times than what I care to remember)
Hopefully this slight upgrade will be for the better as i'll have to do a god bit of gaming to get used to the layout in comparison to just a standard mouse which I've always used. Let me know ur thoughts..I couldn't pass it up for finding it new for 40 bucks total on ewiz

I had the G5 but I returned it and got the Copperhead.
The copperhead seems smoother and I like the extra buttons.
The weight option on the G5 didn't make a difference at all to me.

I have a Logitech MX510, I must say it is the best mouse I ever owned. Cost me like $60 bucks new, works for me.
-
I guess we will get to see that great mouse at the 150.
-
I've been told be others that the weight system is sorta pointless...but I guess I'll find out when i get it. I felt both mice in action and i think the G5 responses better when I used it.
Plus the copperhead is shaped pretty much standard. I've read a good bit of reviews on how logitech owns in on the fly dpi adjustments...nothing beats em. So i guess i'll have to wait and see...but i've always been a fan of "cradle mice" if you know what I mean...not just straight slick back standard mouse (thought sadly enough it's what I'm currently dealing with)

518 FTW!!!

I love my microsoft trackball and wacom tablet
<ducks>

Let me hook up the watcom at the LAN! I am gonna pwn some CS n00bs with it! LMAO!

I got a logitech G5 a while ago as well. The weight adjustments aren't exactly pointless, but they aren't a critical issue. I did notice differences when I added weight. As far as the on the fly adjustment goes I love it. Even without loading the software it will do the adjustments to the default settings. And the tracking of the mouse is outstanding. I am using it on a laminate covered desk and I haven't had any crazy mouse movements since I have gotten it (except for when a cat hair got in the way of the laser).

I have a g5 and g15, they are both pretty nice. The weights effect how the mouse feels but they are not all that important. The adjusting res on the fly is where it's at, keep it high for most FPS and if you have a sniper rifle knock it down a notch and you have awsome accuracy.
-
I've had all kinds of mice over the years and the logitech 518 is hands down the best I've ever owned! If the G5 is as good or better you'll like it!
-
I had a MX1000, to a Razer Copperhead. The copperhead is a very good mouse. I like the feel. I tried the G5, and it was just as comfortable, but I liked the cool glow of the Copperhead so that is what won it for me! (Basically, go with whichever one you feel more comfortable with because lights are dumb). Good Luck with your purchase.

The ability to change resolution on the fly beats glowing.
-
You can change res on the fly with the copperhead as well. By default, you use the buttons on the right side of the mouse (of course you can change it)
-
MX518 is the best mouse IMO.
