New Comp In Mind...Any Ideas
« on: November 17, 2005, 10:40:35 AM »
Ok

I know I just upgraded the hell out of my last comp (new amd 64 4000+, 6800 gt 256, just bought another 1gb of corsair duel channel ram yesterday)

But I'm considering just starting over again from scratch with a new system...(wanna go sli with amd 64 4000+)

Any ideas of some possible configs to go with (not sure if I'm willing to go 7800, but most likely will do 6800 gt). I have about 1000 bucks to spend as my budget (keeping in mind that I'll have a 6800 gt agp card to sell, a 500 watt ps)

so for a thousand bucks, what do you think?

(would love to get this comp...too bad it'll go for over 2k...)

Let me know some ideas...I pretty much need to find a new ps (supporting sli) 2 6800 (looking on ebay) a new mobo and a new case
(considering going liquid cooled)

Please post your ideas

The comp there, the motherboard is outdated, its A8N, not A8N32 (just released) also the video cards are out of date, they aren't even KO, just GTX....so...not worth 2k.   not really anyway.

Ok,

I was saying that I have a thousand to spend on upgrades. The only issue is that I won't be really doing this for another month or 2. I was thinking 180 for the vid card if your interested. But like I said, this won't be until the mid of January, so if your willing to wait that long. I just wanna see what other guys have configured as far as mobo and ps. I was thinking a antec true power ps and a asus mobo (saw they have the new true 16x sli mobo...16x on both sli slots instead of the usual 8x...200 bucks though)

Anyway, let me know what you guys think

Dave

Ok,

Check out these options.

http://www.xoxide.com/thermaltake-tai-chi-liquid-cooled-case-vb5001sna.html

Think this is way much for a case. I mean, I could get a cheap case for 150, but this one includes the water colling. The main feature is the hydrolics (has hydrolics which opens the side panel with a press of a button) Would have to scrap the wheels though

What do you think

I'm sorry..., but the graphics cards alone are aprox. $750-800, it's well worth 2k...  You are absolutely crazy.

I'm in a similar boat as you fearon. My graduation present (yeah its early) from my grandparents is $1200 for a computer.  Thus far this is what I have in mind.

Athlon 64 3800+ newcastle
MSI K8N Neo board
1GB Corsair TwinX RAM
XFX GF 7800GT
Maxtor 200gig SATA 16mb cache HDD

That with the other minor things (antec case, nice PSU, fans) comes to a little over a grand.

*excited!!!*  :2thumbsup:
