Title: NBC Thinks 30+ Gamers Are Weird
Post by: The Nstuff on July 17, 2011, 06:38:59 PM
 Having just turned 30 years old myself and enjoy playing games when I get a chance, I wonder what Kathie Lee Gifford would rather people 30 years and older spend their free time doing?  Playing cards, board games, watching her tv shows or listening to her albums?  Maybe the older generation needs to wake up that the coming generation will be setting up lan parties at our retirement communities and I for one, can't wait.

Video at the link has the topic start around 2:10.

I couldn't stop laughing. It's amazing how out of touch with reality these talking heads are. I think they are just mad cause we aren't watching them and that the video game industry is making more money than them for it.

When I heard about this a few days ago, I tried looking over the actual morning show website and couldn't find any emails for directly contacting those twits as I was really hoping to leave a seething comments for them. I saw plenty of things for facebook comments, but since FB would be "what's hot" or some other b.s., I didn't want to be bothered with something so impersonal.

And they NEED that moneys. You know...for the Botox-ing.

{Nice to see that these people have attitudes that match their faces ... the faces under all the plastic.}

If it's on the teleprompter it has GOT to be the TRUTH!

I used to watch Saturday Night Live and they'd do a sketch of these two windbags and think, "This has got to be an extreme exaggeration of those two." Then one day, I caught the actual show and realized they had it spot on. So if our generation doesn't fill our downtime playing video games, let's just fill it like our fathers and grandfathers did. We'll go to the bar, get drunk, come home, beat our women and children and put them in their place. We'll spend all day Saturday (and sometimes Sunday) on the golf course or "at the lodge" with a bunch of other miserable old men who will do anything they can to avoid going home and even making an appearance to the rest of their family.

There's a reason our mother's would use the line "Wait till your father gets home" on us; because he was never home and you knew that when he did finally get home, he would be in a piss ass mood and not want to deal with anything your little punk ass did.

I don't know about you, but that seems like a much better example to set for your kids than to actually be at home, eating dinner with them, interacting with them, and tucking them into bed. If you happen to be playing video games in between those things, then so be it. At least you're there participating in their lives and being more than just a "threat" in their eyes.

Well, I could now that Comcast owns NBC.....but I don't like to think of what kind of consequences might come back to me ;)

By that I meant something I missed on the actual website, not some personal email that I shouldn't have knowledge of... you silly 'dactyl!
