You almost need a second case just for that video card............
-
I have been wondering when we would see the first external video cards. Just make an interface board that goes in the PC and a cable to the external video unit. It would have it's own power supply and if they do it right it could have multiple GPU's in it as well. Just my idea.

check out the new intel chip due out in a year or 2.

Methinks thats gotta be a prototype of sorts. To have a fan/sink system that huge seems more like a placeholder cooling system while they figure out more efficient core design. The hugeness of the fan reminds me of the Geforce FX series. Big and loud(we know how that series turned out :P).
Just either seems fake or a prototype. I don't trust a grfx card without a fan(those cheap cards you see that used to require huge fans, but now only run on a dinky heatsink), nor do I trust a card that requires something as monstrous as that to run well.
Though it still looks cool!

I think we are quickly approaching the amount of power we can draw thru a standard wall outlet to power our PC's
Ultra is coming out with a 2000w PSU and I read OCZ has a 1200+w monster in the works. A 2000w PSU will blow a 15A breaker. A AMD 4x4 system with 2 FX-74's and 4 8800GTX's will need over 1200w (most on the 12v rail too) to run, throw in a big RAID array and you will need to put in a special dedicated outlet just for the CPU.

well i may instead get a geforce 8900gtx as it has better clock speeds and 160 shader ops. well just have to wait and see how these cards perform...
-
The R600 is said topown the 8800GTX
-
yea but im talking the 8900gtx not 8800
-
Is the 8900GTX even in the pipeline yet?
