murphys law strikes again
« on: February 25, 2010, 05:13:36 PM »
So today I decide to blow out my pc and clean it up for tomorrow.  I put everything back together and try to boot.  No video.  My motherboard is fine but for some reason I have no video.  It turns out for no apparent reason my 4870x2 just decided to up and Crap the bed.  I try an old 8800 I have and it booted fine.  After a mad dash to best buy I now am sporting a pair of 5770s.  Odd though I have them in crossfire and have it enabled in the ccc but 3dmark lists it as a single 5770.

Bring it to the LAN.  I am sure there will be plenty of PC's to try it in.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.

I was making final preps and saw that 2 of O rings on my 45degree swivel fittings for my liquid cooling had seepage. Well they are no longer swivel fittings and so far no seepage... so the patch is holding o.O

Good luck man!

What if bodies just had random errors like computers do?

What kind of Fudgeing computer errors are you getting?

Not saying that it is a bad idea but I would do any cleaning stuff a week before a big LAN. Just in case something like this happens you don't need to be running around like crazy or trying to fix a punkbuster error. Just make sure everything is working a week before and Run it once a day until the LAN. Also bring the card. I'll have a backup comp you can try it in

Lol, I found a leak in my danger den 5 1/4" resevior I had to patch up.  Then I had to remove my old card and plug the liquid cooling lines so I could install the new cards that use air cooling.

I will bring my 4870 but it doesn't have a heatsink, just the waterblock so we can't turn it on long if it works.

Pfft, I can top all this.  I built my system just for this LAN.  It's 6 days old including today.  That's 6 days of validating parts, doing heat cycles to check stability and cure the thermal paste, and clean installing everything.

So far so good :D

This is a lan, there's no reason to use punkbuster.

If anyone cheats, we can all walk over to him and...well...you know.

Yeeeah. We have a strict NO CHEATING policy.

First Offense: Warnings to immediately cease the prohibited behavior
Second Offense: Immediate Ban from Venue and all later FITES events

Though, we reserve the right to ignore the first and uphold the second if the offender is being a real jerk about it.

That had to be staged, or there were multiple arrests made.

Funny you should say that, I was doing some digging for the past few minutes and found a post by the makers of that video:

I know it was fake....it was meant to be funny!  ;P  FITES would never do something like that.  We will embarrass and ridicule you though....publicly.
That's Mr. Deception to you.
