The other day at work the discussion was about monitors and how cheap the larger monitors are in cost. This aggravates me because our company and several co-workers believe there is not a difference in monitor quality for the price. Every time I work at home, I get reminded of this aggravation because my home monitor is a Samsung 226BW. Work uses craptastic Dell monitors. Maybe if a few more bucks were invested at work, money could be saved on visual health care. OK, that's my rant. I'll go on my way now.

When I bought my computer at work I got a Dell 1908WFP. I have no problem with the monitor and it performs rather well for a business system. I don't experience any eye strain or difficulty seeing the monitor.

I got one of those cheap hannsg 28" monitors at home, the quality isnt great but for gaming its insane. My home office I rock a really nice 19" LCD, at work I have two crappy 21" CRT's, one has a shadow image that's sorta annoying, they wont let us order LCD's for the office for some stupid reason. I would be way more useful if I had some big good quality LCD's at work but convincing the suits to spend money is difficult.

Samsung FTW IMO. I had a HannsG 22" and though it wasnt bad...it def doesnt compare to the 26" Samsung T260HD I have now. And though they may not realize, most of the time you'll see the spec differences in comparison to brand. For instance, you wont find a too many high end samsung monitors that aren't in 3000:1 or higher contrast or have a .285 or less pixel pitch (most samsung monitors for instance are up towards 10k and higher now on contrast). Those type of things are overlooked by those who dont know what they're really looking at
**plus i had bad experiences with HannsG and Acer for viewing angles...it sucked

I can always tell a bad monitor by the washed out colors and the blacks are gray instead.

I still love both my Dell ultrasharp 2005fpw's. The actual panel is the same that was used in the Apple 20" Cinema display at the time when they were new.
