Mechwarrior
« on: January 31, 2010, 09:35:04 AM »
What ever happened to the games?  I had this dream last night I was a mech pilot in a vulture and woke up thinking it would make a cool MMO, starting out as a merc/outer sphere dude with clan/inner sphere stuff being rare.

Anyhoo Google says there's a new title coming out and it looks sweet, but it looks like its got leagal issues (The makers of those little mech models are epic douchebags in my book, they charge so damn much for those cheap plastic things and are rabid about copyright on em):

Yeah I saw that trailer sometime last year. It's still being made, just changing some names or something. It does look cool though. I re-installed Mechwarrior 2 a month or so ago... Love that game. I never played 3 or 4 though.

Vultire 2x LRM20, max out speed and jump jets and armor and then tack on whatever else you could add (usually like 5x small lasers and 1-2 medium lsaers).  And just hit and run like a mofo.

I'm hoping to convince enough people at the lan to try out Mechwarrior Living Legends.

http://www.mechlivinglegends.net/

It's a mod that uses the Crysis engine and is a pretty fun Battletech game. It even has Microsoft's blessing (as they own the MW rights for videogames).

Mechs, vehicles (tracked and hover), VTOL, and Aerospace. Hell of a good time online. The only thing I wish it had was vehicle customization, but there are enough options that I can do without for now...

I remember something way back when about that mod. Glad they finished it, I would install Crysis again just to play this.

I bought Crysis so I could try this mod. It's really fun once you get 8 or more on a side. Other thing I didn't mention, currently there's no difference between Clan and Inner Spheres as far as equipment. Also, everyone starts out as an Elemental and can purchase vehicles (as you go up in rank in a match, you get more money to spend).
