For those of you who love Mech combat, I would strongly suggest you check this game out. It is free to play and launched in Open Beta on October 29th.

I tried to get into Hawken but it was just a cluttered combat cluster F' dodge fest and really didnt feel like the MechWarrior series I had known and loved over the years.
Jordan Weisman, the founder of the disbanded FASA Corporation which worked on the MechWarrior series, negotiated the license back from Microsoft. He entered into a joing collaboration with Russ Bullock from Piranha Games and we now have online mech combat that actually feels like the MechWarrior we have all known and loved.
Check it out and have the patience to re-learn how to customize your mechs. Anyone familiar with MechWarrior should remember how complex yet rewarding this can be.

Free to play!? I'm there!

Seriously check it out.
I didnt find a tutorial for this in game so here is my tip: To change your weapon groupings in game. Use your up down arrow keys to highlight the selected weapon and left right to highlight assignment number, then use your right ctrl button to assign and unnasign # groupings.

Ill check this tomorrow. Hawken just isn't doing anything for me..

Ditto, to be fair, I never really gave Hawken a chance, but I'll definitely check out MWO.

I played the closed beta for a bit. It was ok...you have to GRIND in order to purchase/use any mech other than the starters...that is unless you want to pay to win.

I am guessing they improved the points system. I am averaging over 400k c-bills per match and that is with me getting to know the game. You can pick up a nice Raven RVN-2X for a little over 2.4 mil c-bills so thats only 6 matches for a new mech.
