TL;DR - Valve has no structure on purpose, so people just work on whatever they feel like whenever they feel like.
So uh... about that.

So if steam runs on linux does that mean the games will too, or will I just be able to chat with my buddies? :)
The only think keeping me from running linux full time is the lack of games that we all play.

I would imagine its just the platform. The games themselves would have to have a Linux compatible version as well. This is why there is a Mac Steam client, but not all games are available on the Mac.

Source is native on the Linux! That would mean most of the games that are Mac compatible should be Linux compatible. (Definitely the Valve titles.)

They just made Serious Sam: BFE mac play compatible, so anything's possible.
