LCD Monitor
« on: December 19, 2006, 11:29:18 AM »
K, so I was thinking of finally getting ride of my old crt monitor. Question is whether i wanna upgrade to a normal lcd or get a widescreen monitor. I'm a big widescreen fan personally. I'm almost definite that i'm gonna go with a samsung cause i dont think anything beats em. Anyways, let me know what you guys opinions on on widescreen vs normal 4:3 monitors. Anything special i should have with my video card or anything. I would think that my 6800 wouldn't have a problem handling it. Here is the one monitor i was debating of. What do u guys think?

the millisecond response time is great (think its 4ms which is more than fast enough) I worry a lil about the resolution. I guess i'm off 2 go compair it to others, but let me know what u guys think of this one

I just recently bought a widescreen LCD as well. I also have a 6800, the one I bought (BenQ 20.1") is 1680x1050 and it works perfectly. Widescreen is definitely the way to go. I can't imagine how I lived with my CRT anymore.

I am just not too sure about the res and the contrast on the Samsung. It would make me shy away from it.

Also, you know we have a Hardware forum right? ;)

You need one of these! Actually I am still toying with the idea of getting it... But I would need to get two spots for every lan. ;)

*pokes Agent in the left eye* :P

Actually... I did just order it... But I'll be damned if I bring it to the LANs. I doubt it would fit in my car! LMAO!

F3ar0n, I have a monitor with 1440x900 res and I love it.  So i would not let the lower res scare you.  Samsung makes great stuff.  Also, this site has some great info for getting games that are not native widescreen to display as widescreen.

Shado, it did not take you very long to go from toying with the idea to buying it, lol.
