"tick rate" is a term only spoken in hush tones around these parts. I feel that the "numbers" game that is thrown around with tick rates are really misunderstood by the masses. In regards to your request, I have a NS2 server downloaded and configured and do not anticipate it being a problem at the event. In regards to tick rate however, you should keep in mind that we're talking about a gaming over LAN instead of WAN.
Basically what I'm trying to say is that the tick rate response, which is drooled upon from an internet game play perspective where pings are above 50, wont have the same effect in a LAN setting with pings being at 5-10. It'd be ideal for stable tick rates at 60 for NS2. However keep in mind that even if server tick rates fluctuate, a client with low ping will resend game data so fast that the network game play performance will be nonexistent.
Hopefully this makes sense. It is late as I type this, so I will review it tomorrow and reword if needed.
