Title: LAN Party-York Area

Hey, just wanted to let some of the people in the York/Harrisburg/Mburg area about a LAN party here in York this weekend.  I talked with the event coordinator and he has offered to let FITES people in for free.  They currently have about 23 people registered.

The event runs Saturday noon until Sunday morning.  Proposed games include Battlefield 2, 1942, UT2k4, Vietnam, and others.

The venue is located right off the square in York near the Strand theater.  Parking is free (I do believe) on weekends in the parking garage.

I will be checking out the venue tomorrow, so hopefully I can update with some photos.

hmmmm, that seems like it could be a good time.

edit: looks to be only about 40 mins away from mechanicsburg

Like I said, I hope to have a look at the site today.  I know the tables and chairs are showing.  The facility used to be a sound recording studio.  Beyond that, I don't know much about the venue.

The people holding the event have been LANing in the York area for about 3 years or so.  They usually have a gig about every 2 months, with about 20 to 30 people attending.  

I am hopeful to get these guys interested in doing a 100 man style event with us.  If we can do 50 to 60 for one of these style events, and they can 30 or so, it would be a great thing.  Thats part of the reason I would hope to see some FITES folks at this event.

Okay, didn't make it to the site today.  But talked with the coordinator.  He was not happy with the place so he rented space at the Holiday Inn Express in York instead.  Nice thing is comfier seats then what they probably would have had.

The HIExpress is located off the Leaders Heights Exit of 83 in York.  Real easy to get to.  They allow these guys to hang out until 7am for those of you interested.

He said he is willing to take the hit since he felt the place his pal had would make people never want to come back.  And its not nearly as big as the HI in Mburg.  My company uses the rooms at this place for regional training sessions.  From what he was saying, it didnt sound too expensive. All told tho, a better venue, comfy seats, better AC, bathroom facilities rite outside the room, 24 hour free coffee service in the lounge.
