Yeah, I know, I read the live blog on tuaw.com as today's non-event happened. The biggest "news" to me was that Steve Jobs is back. Michelle wants a new iPod, so the price breaks on the existing lineup are nice, but I have a feeling she'll want the new 160GB Classic, which will be the same price as the 120GB was.

Supposedly the new Zune HD coming out is cheaper and a lot better than the ipod. I haven't read about it too closely as I'm not in the market for buying one, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

"Zune" and "better" should never EVER go in the same sentence. Unless its "The ipod is better then the zune".

If I were personally in the market for a music player right now, I think I'd get the Zune HD. It is the bee's knees.

The Zune HD does look really nice. I don't understand the animosity towards the Zune. Seems more like a protest against Microsoft rather than a judgment on the product itself.

When the first Zune came out, it was....ok, but certainly no iPod killer. I said at that time that it will be another typical Microsoft product, where it's adequate with the first couple of versions and that by the third or fourth generation (where we are now) it will be a serious competitor. The only thing it has to shake right now is its image of being inferior brought onto it by the previous generations. If the Zune HD were the first entry into the market, everyone would be looking at it differently. I don't know how well the mainstream iPod lemmings will receive it, but for those who can look at things objectively and haven't been brainwashed by the cult of Apple, it should be a serious consideration if you're looking to buy a portable music/video player right now.

The Zune HD does look like a nice product if I was only looking for a portable player and didn't have anything else, but my iPhone is now also my iPod and integrates well with everything else. I can control my AppleTV (Which I am one of 5 people who love.) and control my PC/iTunes/Mac/AppleTV and work well with my Air Port Expresses. It has just become part of a whole.

I have had 3 Zune Players. All of them 80GB, I only had one that refused to work. Must of been dropped a few times. Would I say they are prone to failure? No, anything with a hard drive is prone to failure if you drop it. I for one like my Zune.

I by no means am a "Apple Lemming". I just remember using the zune a few times and found the interface clunky and slow. I do like the ipod mainly for the reasons why Shoctor does. (and I am referring to the touch and iphone iterations). It has become more than just a music and video player over the years. And my comment was to be taken as a light hearted joke, but as I have been witness to many times, posts are 99.9% taken out of context.

the only reason why i got the ipod i have now is because of the ecosystem built around the ipod connector. My car has an ipod connector. It's getting more and more difficult getting a receiver without it built-in, alarm clocks have it, etc.
If I were in the market for a new mp3 player, i would probably look hard at getting a Zune. Leave the ipod in the car, but use the zune for everything else.

I had a good mp3 player. A 4gig Samsung YP-P2 with touchscreen. The nifty part of it all? Audio through bluetooth. Then it got stolen. :-(
Now I'm using a Creative Zen 8gig that my sister used until she got her Iphone until I can get a YP-P3. Why? As far as I know, and feel free to correct me, but the both the Ipod and Zune don't do bluetooth audio and that's what I want (and kind of need).

I know that the iPhone has an accessory that can, but not nativity... I have never checked, but I am pretty sure that it doesn't. But as a side note I am glad BTAudio works for some people. It's never worked to an enjoyable degree for me.
