Is it supposed to smoke?
« on: January 29, 2007, 08:24:24 PM »
Um I really don't know how to explain this but here it goes. For those of you at the last monthly man might have seen my poor excuse for a video card. And how somehow it was overclocking itself way over specs, 300/400 respectively stock it comes. When I installed the new nvidia drivers then Rivatuner it bumped itself to 400/800 respectively. Now I know this is not right for it to be doing so. So being the ass that I am I decided to have a little fun with it. I let nvidia control panel overclock it...

When the dust finally settled it was overclocked to 500/1000 and it ran the entire time we were playing zombie mod. No fourth of July fireworks or anything. Well after about 4-5 weeks after the lan, apparently I blew a resistor while the pc is running. I am typing you this now with a blown resistor. Yes it is still running how I don't know, but now I can't run anything I have tried two games so far. Forces of Corruption and Max Payne 2, both refuse to run.

I am at a loss, onward to PCI-E. O and  :cussing: Zalman. I will stick with Artic Cooling.

I wouldn't blame zalman, pushing video card as hard as you did is not the brightest idea no matter what you were doing to cool it.

I would like to apply this situation to a scene from a movie.  Specifically the scene just after Arthur and his knights attack the beast at the entrance to the cave and Tim the Enchanter is telling him "I told you".  Of course this scene is from the best movie in the world "Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail".  If you haven't seen the movie yet your geek card will be revoked.

I'd rather go with a 7800 GS, it seems wierd having a ATI video card on a Nvidia board.
