I am beside myself
« on: October 12, 2008, 12:46:57 PM »
Well last night after COD4, I went downstairs to get a drink and went to bed afterwards. I said to myself, you know I should roll up my windows. It might rain or something, but I said to myself no that won't happen. That and my sister was asleep and I didn't want to wake her up because her room faces the street outside. I have done this Crap before and nothing really bad has happened. Well at noon today I went out to my car to go to sheetz to get something to eat. Low and behold when I get in my car, somebody stole my radio and the psp I had in a bookbag in the back seat. I did the only thing I could do, yell "Fudge!" at the top of my lungs. Called the cops and filed a police report.

And then I thought, you know if I would have just rolled up my windows and locked the doors none of this Crap would happen. Lesson learned, I will no longer leave a damn thing in my car again. That and I realized a long time ago you can't have anything nice in the world. People will steal your Crap, and now people are robbing people in Mechanicsburg. Over damn cell phones pointing shotguns at peoples faces. Now I really don't want to get a nice car; because if I have some nice rims on it something. They will steal the car, park it somewhere, and then take the rims and leave the car. Only to be found a week later with half the Crap gone.

I have no one to blame but myself. But the funny thing is they didn't take the remote for the cd player. And they didn't steal the car either. Guess stealing the car would be to much of a hassle and they would get caught quicker. Now I got to go through a whole lot Crap. I will just get reimbursed I won't see that Crap again. But here is one thing I am thankful for.

At the last lan when I got home that night I left my pc and monitor and all the Crap still in the car with the windows rolled up. I don't think I had it locked. Thank god that Crap didn't get taken. But another thing is this, now the know the car and they might be back to steal some more Crap. But I really don't think they could be that stupid. Well I guess I will be getting this replaced next weekend.

Scratch that I won't be getting reimbursed because it is a $500 from the insurance. So I will be buying some new Crap next weekend.

Do you mean a $500 deductible?
That's Mr. Deception to you.

I don't think you would've gotten anything anyway. You left the doors unlocked and the windows down. That's like complaining your car got stolen when you leave it running while you run inside the store, or your house getting robbed if you leave the front door hanging open while you go away on vacation.

This just might get you nominated for a Darwin award.
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

I just bought one of those books a couple weeks ago, sully ;) Funny stuff... if not incredibly morbid at times. Seems like something Czar would get a kick out of.

Your right about that one. I didn't realize that till after the fact. Funny thing is, is that Circuit City is having a sale on CD Decks. And it includes a free install. I know what I will be doing next week.

That really sucks Tibs.  It doesn't really mean your neighborhood is going downhill.  It could just be some guys from York going outside their hometown looking for things to steal.  :P  I kid!  I kid!

I'm way too paranoid to leave my car unlocked, regardless of neighborhood.  I also never leave anything valuable sitting on any of the seats.  If I go somewhere directly from work and have to take my work laptop with me, i'll put it in the trunk before I leave work.  I just don't want to invite any problems.

Also, there have been plenty of times I've been glad that I have a POS car.  Second you have anything anyone else might want, there'll be people wanting to take it.  Just make sure you don't make it easy for them to do so.

Oh no; my neighborhood is going to Crap. About 3 robberies in a month span. Same two idiots with a shotgun robbing people on the street. I am most likely going to get it replaced tomorrow. I will see how tomorrow goes on the way to work listening to the wind. Or nothing at all. Hell it will be easy for the guy to install. My brother in law who bought it from CC went and told them it is stolen. But I highly doubt the idiot is going to go there for service. You can buy all the pieces you need on ebay. And I managed to find the box to the head unit, so I will be taking that to the cops tomorrow.

This just reminds me of when I was living in Williamsport, PA and going to college.  I was in an accident at like 6am in the morning, and my drivers side window got busted out.  I covered it with plastic and parked it outside of my house, so I could figure out what to do with it.  Later that night I lost my $1200.00 stereo system.  I filed a police report, which did nothing because I didn't have serial numbers written down for my equipment.  To make matters worse, someone broke into my car AGAIN in the morning and stole my parking pass, a few packs gum, and an almost empty bottle of cologne.

I was in a similar situation with the insurance, as I only had collision coverage.  The insurance adjuster told me that nothing inside my car could be claimed, and even if it could be I would have had to show proof that any electronics that were missing were "BOLTED" into the car.  Meaning that my 15" sub and sub box would have had to be bolted to the trunk of my car.  Long story short, I would have had to claim the stuff was stolen out of my house to get it covered.  My car got wrecked (which ended up costing me $2200.00 out of pocket), and then my stereo got stolen.  All in all it was a great week.

Growing up on the outskirts of Reading, it was quickly ingrained in me to never leave my car unlocked.  Only ever had my car broken into once and that was when it was parked behind my apartment in Tyrone.  They smashed out a back window and stole a CD player I had under the seat, change in my center console, and a half empty bottle of windshield washer fluid.  Cops didn't even come out and look at it.  Cost $75 to get a new window from the junk yard and I put it in myself.  That day really sucked.
Never, but never question the engineers judgement.
