Guitar Hero Tournament
« on: October 11, 2007, 05:18:33 PM »
Hey everyone, I just found about about this literally two days ago, but there is going to be a Guitar Hero tournament at the West Shore Hardware Bar in Mechanicsburg. For those that don't know, the West Shore Hardware Bar is in the same building as the Holiday Inn where we've had our big LAN's in the past. It is co-sponsored by 105.7 The X and Gamestop (I think). It starts at 8pm. Tonight is just the first round, the finals are then held on November 1. The grand prize is an autographed guitar from Godsmack!!!

So, without further ado, I'm going to go play a little GH for one last tune up and then head over to Mechanicsburg to try and win that thing! If you can make it out to cheer me on that's great, if not, wish me luck!
Please just walk away. I don't want to have to stand here and say something so awesome that I'll have to remember it the rest of the day. Thank you!

I'm in the finals!!!!

There were two rounds. The first round was groups of 5 or 6 on Medium with the top 2 or 3 from each group moving onto the semi's based on points. Each person in a particular group did the same song to be fair. My group had Strutter to start out with. I wound up 2nd in that group with 135,000 points, the winner of the group had 139,000.

The semis was two groups of 5 each, played on Expert, with the winner of each group moving onto the finals on November 1st. My goup drew You Really Got Me. I went second, scored 97,000 points, the first guy had 95,000 so I knew I was still in it. I stood back and watched the remaining people in the group really struggle with it and even had a few people fail the song, but no one got close and I knew I had it locked up.

They are doing this again next week at the York Hardware Bar and the week after that at the Harrisburg Hardware Bar. The finals will then be 6 people (2 winners from each week). I was talking to the DJ (Nixon from the X) and he said he was thinking about doing a cumulative score of three songs, including the dreaded Jordan by Buckethead! He said the contestants will have to wear a KFC bucket on their head while playing that song!

All I can say is that I'm going to be doing a lot of practice in the coming weeks ;) W00t!

I almost forgot, I was wearing a FITES t-shirt (can't miss a chance to pimp, right?) and I ran into someone who knew who we were, Jared McAvoy who said he used to run the York LAN group with dwg115 back in the day before FITES absorbed them. I also happened to know Jared from about 5 years ago from going out to the bars in Hanover, but that's another story. Anywhoo, I think that's all now.

Damnit, If I had read this post earlier I would have attended.  I have been practicing my GHII skillz and have gotten considerably good at it.....maybe next time.
That's Mr. Deception to you.

They are doing it at 2 other bars.  You still have 2 weeks in which to possibly qualify.  Of course you would have to go up against Sully in the finals so you may just want to save the embarrassment.

5 bucks to anyone who plays out with the guitar on fire!
A Serbian Film

What if bodies just had random errors like computers do?
You go to receive your Starbucks coffee and accidentally punch the Barista in the face then Crap on the floor.
What kind of Fudgeing computer errors are you getting?

Just a reminder that the finals are tonight (Thursday) at the West Shore Hardware Bar. If you can make it out to cheer me on it would be awesome!

After practicing tonight and realizing that I can't really master some of the harder songs on expert, I have a feeling I may get pwnt, but maybe I'll get lucky and everyone else will be on the same ground as me giving me a better shot.

Of course, I'll let you all know how I make out afterwards.
